I imagine you realize I saw the documentary about she and Helena Rubenstein. I’m still thinking about it. What a pair of entrepeneurs.

I do think they’d latch right onto this Egyptian scent thing. What marketing we’d see.

Must’ve been interesting to work there in the period Arden was around.

A couple of the older aestheticians I worked with knew Miss Arden back in the day. They had a lot of interesting stories. I wish I had been able to spend more time with them.

The salon at the Biltmore shopping center had been one of the original Red Door salons. It had been sold to another company. When Red Door purchased it, they went to sand the door down to paint it red, and found the original red paint. Some of the original chairs and glamor photographs were still being used in the salon. A lot of older ladies used to come in to buy her Bluegrass cologne, one of the few holdovers from her regime. The cosmetics company is separate from the salon company, but the salon buys products from the cosmetics company under a purchase agreement.

The grounds of the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale were at one time her Maine Chance Spa. It was prime real estate.

I haven’t seen the documentary, I hope to see it someday.
