And of course there's spikey and stinky durian, which I personally love (occasionally).

I’d like to try some durian sometime. Just because most people call it a disgusting nauseating fruit and I want to judge it for myself.

Must the shades of Free Republic be thus polluted?
LOL. Not the first thing I think of when I think of exotic fruit.

I just want to eat fruit that's unsuitable for public consumption.

Here in Texas we don't regard tomatillo as exotic. More like a poor man’s tomato.

The pummelo is just about the best citrus fruit. But the ones you can buy in a supermarket are not very good.

All fruits and vegetables are good for you! Dig in and enjoy! I had a great fruit salad for breakfast. It gives me bountiful REAL energy in the morning — compared to a cup of caffeine with its artificial stimulation.

Durian is a funny fruit that causes all kinds of weirdo overreactions. But it’s worth a try.
You can always buy frozen whole durian at most Asian markets in the U.S., it’s not as good as the fresh SE Asian variety in the same way that frozen peas aren’t as good as fresh peas. But it’s OK.
Sometimes you can get fresh in-season durian in the States. In both cases it’s pricey, just as it is in SE Asia.

Barney: Both a weird fruit and a rotten apple who spoiled the entire U.S. economy (and has so far gotten away with it).

Is that Singapore Changii airport? IIRC Singapore Air enforces a ban on durian in the passenger sections of the plane.

Some unusual fruits and vegetables have varying health benefits. The caption stopped me as I read the ABC page. And some unusual fruits and vegetables have unvarying health benefits?
Reminds me of a line in a textbook I once edited: All roads in New England go uphill.

I just grabbed the pic off the net. I heard about the durian from the guy on the travel channel who eats all the strange things. He hated the durian.
