PERRIS, Calif. - A town is going green to combat foreclosure blight: A contractor has been hired to spray-paint lawn bald spots. Perris spokesman Joe Vargo said contractor Dave Milligan uses an environmentally friendly dye that lasts up to six months and is harmless to people and pets. The city hopes the foreclosed properties are purchased and occupied before the lawn needs a touchup. It costs about $550 to spray-paint a lawn. The city, some 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles, has set aside $2 million in an effort to stabilize foreclosure-fraught neighborhoods.

gonna need that with the drought and water rationing planned.
Or worse, given the element of deception involved.
I’ll do it for 1.8 million.
what about the shrubbery and any other ornamental landscaping? seems like a total waste of money.
Man this is old, old, old, this has been done for many years in California during droughts.

Why waste money painting dirt? I have never understood why people try to make an oasis out of a desert. I say just let the stupid grass die, keep the weeds mowed, and it won’t look any worse than a pathetic yard with green bald spots.
I have been in Perris many many times...it could use a lot more than just green painted lawns...
I have seen mowed, dried lawns. They can look kind of nice. Sort of golden and rich.
Yes! I love that color...sort of a Naples yellow.
