“It wasn’t our idea we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses. That would be the writer of Hebrews.”

The writer of Hebrews didn’t say we are to pray to them. Neither did Christ.

Nor did either say not to...

“Nor did either say not to...”

Christ didn’t tell us to jump off cliffs either, does that mean you’re going to?

I notice your response does not include a verse to support your misrepresentation of God's Holy Word. I am not in the habit of taking the name of the Lord in vain by claiming what some people do is "against what Christ told us" when he said no such thing.

Apparently you can't tell the difference between "thus saith the Lord" and thus saith you.

“Apparently you can’t tell the difference between “thus saith the Lord” and thus saith you.”

I can’t tell the difference? It isn’t I who is claiming things that aren’t there!!

Nowhere in my study have I EVER found anything that would lead me to conclude that we have an injunction or permission or whatever to pray to anyone other than the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

Now, I’ve asked for specific verse or verses, none have been proffered. Only has been posted and has nothing to prove the above. If you got it, post it, if not, time to move on.

Yes you are: that was the entire point of my post!

You want me to show a verse that gives permission when you can't even find a verse that prohibits. What hypocrisy.

I don’t have to find verses, as it’s quite clear whom we’re to pray to throughout the New Testament but here’s one to prove the point.

Luk 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

No pray to saints, no pray to Mary, no prayer to the clock on the wall. Just when you pray, say OUR FATHER.

No pray to saints, no pray to Mary, no prayer to the clock on the wall.

Yet, the verse does not say "When ye pray, ONLY say..."

Unless perhaps Luther added a word to that verse in your Bible too.

Then clearly you have never asked anyone to pray for you.

Fascinating.

Give it up dude, you don’t persuade me.

The words of Christ are good enough. The example of any prayer being said by Christ, the apostles and the admonitions of Paul is good enough.

Anything else is just man made add on.

Ever study logic?

Didn't think so.

The words of Christ are good enough.

Unfortunately, your interpretation of them is not.

...just man made add on.

You must be referring to the occasion when Luther added the word "alone" to Romans 3:28.

Nice try, doesn’t work. Care for another?

You DO have to find a verse. If the only authority you recognize is the Bible, then you can't say anything with authority unless it is explicitly stated in the BIble.

No pray to saints, no pray to Mary, no prayer to the clock on the wall. Just when you pray, say OUR FATHER.

So do you ever pray any OTHER prayer than the Lord's prayer?

No they aren't. Christ told you to pray the Lord's prayer. You aren't Christ to pray his prayers, and Paul didn't tell you what to pray.

Live by straining gnats, die by straining gnats.
