Not when it comes to your attempted use of "appeal to authority" --- implying I was somehow guilty of it, simply for providing a link. Your claim that;

is not only inapplicable, but also incoherent.

Here, maybe this will be helpful in explaining the concept.

Go ahead, protest (backing it all with nothing but wind) all you want. Add some insult, while you're at, it's so typically "you".

Must I also point out that in this exchange with me here, you have readily supplied the evidence for the meaning of my "typical" comment, directed towards you?

Insult, empty denials, more insult, etc., backed up by backwards reasoning while you're at it...
and you think that it's me wandering off the lawn?

Your repetition is noted.

>>Go ahead, protest (backing it all with nothing but wind) all you want. Add some insult, while you’re at, it’s so typically “you”.<<

You don’t really know “me” but I assure you I have no desire to insult. I am just noting interesting points in your posts.

>>Must I also point out that in this exchange with me here, you have readily supplied the evidence for the meaning of my “typical” comment, directed towards you?<<

I am just trying to help you.

>>Insult, empty denials, more insult, etc., backed up by backwards reasoning while you’re at it...
and you think that it’s me wandering off the lawn?<<

As I said, you can either choose to understand the underlying point or not. I hold no enmity towards you, either way.

My repetition is noted? Did you note also that was in response to your stubborn insistence and yourself repeating silly stuff like; in which you're assertion connected with such was totally incorrect?

A little bit of admission of error on your part, might help steer us back to some sort of sensible discourse. as to other issues. Meanwhile, stuff like "your repetition is noted" looks like classic projection

Here's the first sentence wiki uses to describe such psychological pathology;

Undermining the validity of Scripture is certainly not a "validation" of Scripture.

The validity of Scripture is not undermined by denying a claim for Scripture that Scripture does not even claim for itself.

One does not undermine the value of Pepto Bismol by denying its ability to cure cancer.

I gotta agree, Ken. Just noticing us now, BooBoo1000? And what have you suddenly got against Catholics, after 10 years, other than bigotry?

Nice try, doesn’t work.

Yes, it does. The part you won't be able to get past is the Magisterium of the Church has allowed us to pray to the Blessed Mother because we can; we don't pray to the Blessed Mother because the Magisterium allows us.

That's how binding and loosing works. The Magisterium can no more allow that which God forbids than you can win the powerball lottery by praying for the win "in Jesus name" or by "two or more agree."

My repetition is noted?

Yes -- you seem to be heavily invested in this. Why does this subject bother you so much? Is there something in your past that generates such vitriol? I am here to help, if that helps you.

Good!

Have a blessed evening (I am sure it is late even where you may be).

And thank you for the amusement you provided to me and others as well.

I just do "Latest Posts"

But FWIIW, I recall the most intellectual and thoughtful Religion thread here (or anywhere) was on Erasmus and the binding of the will. I need to do some serious research to find the thread, since it was from about 2 years ago.

As a public service I will try to find that thread -- but if you recall it and can post it, I would be most grateful.

We are talking very erudite theology and some great argumentation on that thread.

If I was a theologian, I would use that thread as a guide. And if I was as smart as I think I am, I would use the whole thread as the basis for a Doctor's thesis.

Oh, thank you!

That is one of the best threads on any forum ever. I used to read it from time to time just to digest it.

I am Bookmarking it and keeping it on an exported bookmark list so I don’t lose it again.

And I invite everyone on this thread to read the entire thread and see what theological discourse and associated academic analysis is like.

What you say sounds nice enough...if one could overlook the left-handed insults tucked in at the last, but even if one was able to overlook that portion, the rest is still phony as a clinton 3-dollar bill.

In the future, save yourself the effort of "blessing" with one one hand, while insulting with the other. It mixes the bitter with the sweet, and fools no one save perhaps yourself.

You continue to sound angry. I am not sure that advances your agenda...

>>In the future, save yourself the effort of “blessing” with one one hand, while insulting with the other. It mixes the bitter with the sweet, and fools no one save perhaps yourself.<<

No, I am serious when I ask for blessings to be upon you. There is no insult meant and I am sorry if you feel you are insulted.

It may help you to revisit the origin of our discord.

I ask again, why does this bother you so much? If we know, perhaps we can soothe your ire.

Apparently, there are no rules about educational level or cultural literacy for posting, so any idiot can post bigotry without realizing the role of the world’s major religion in keeping in check culture-of-death liberalism, Communism, and totalitarianism. Pope John Paul II’s role in rolling back Communism in Europe, etc. This Pope’s recent rebuke of Nancy Pelosi for abortion and embryonic stem cell research. God only knows what Frankenstein horrors in embryo research and cloning they would be trying to get away with without the Catholic pro-life movement holding the line. Or how far gone America would be now without the conservative pro-life Catholics who voted for Reagan and Bush, making the modern conservative movement possible, a movement founded by a Catholic, Bill Buckley.

Why don't they go to the American cemetery in Normandy, France, and try telling all the American Catholics who died during the Normandy invasion in World War II, buried under the crosses, that they don't want to hear about the faith that shaped their values or the sanctity of the right to life. Or try reading Fulton Sheen's Communism and the Conscience of the West or Bill Buckleys' God and Man at Yale which sparked the modern conservative movement. Or try having any conservative candidate run for president in a national election without the backing of pro-life conservative Catholics.

“The part you won’t be able to get past is the Magisterium of the Church has allowed us to pray to the Blessed Mother because we can; we don’t pray to the Blessed Mother because the Magisterium allows us.”

So what you think you can do goes against what Christ has told us to do. And nowhere in Christ’s words is there permission, if you will, to pray to anyone or anything OTHER than Him or His Father or the Spirit. THAT you can wiggle with all you want but it’s a MANMADE idea, not a God made idea.

It wasn't our idea we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses. That would be the writer of Hebrews.
