Today, a certain Freeper asked a good FRiend of mine if she was "tired yet of hating# on the McCain family." [1]
As the keeper of the McCain Truth File ping list, I can say with complete certainty that I am not.
And here's why.
It should be publicly known by now that I throughly detest Sen. John McCain of Arizona, and that's putting it nicely. From his amnesty for illegal aliens (McCain-Kennedy) to carbon cap-and-trade (McCain-Lieberman), campaign finance "reform" (McCain-Feingold), and his grandstanding with regard to a certain recent massive Socialist bailout for the financial services industry, McCain has a long, well-documented, and indisputable record of spitting in the faces of the Republican Party's conservative majority as he "crosses the aisle" to prostitute himself to the leftist Democrat Party. And, while he is certainly not the most egregious example of a Republican In Name Only, or RINO, McCain is notorious for his lust for attention, evidenced in his frequent desire to whore himself out to the drive-by media as a supposed representative of the Republican Party and the conservative movement on the whole.
To cut to the chase: McCain is a RINO, a Vichy Republican, a modern day Benedict Arnold, and a sellout of the highest order, and no amount of pointing to his dubious record as a Prisoner of War in Vietnam is sufficient to absolve him of his subsequent treachery as a post-War civilian legislator.
Now, as for his daughter, Meghan, she is a spoiled, ditzy little brat, born with a silver spoon in her mouth. The spawn of the American political elite, pampered from day one by her rich and politically-powerful family, she earned a degree in a wholly useless major, Art History, at a prominent University that she attended probably, and in my own opinion, due to her family's money and political status. [By her own admission, even, she has never taken a single course in economics [2], and, despite reading and reading about economics, just can't "understand it" [3].] Meghan lives in a "loft" that her parents bought for her [4] when many Americans are struggling just to pay their taxes, so that her father can take home a six-digit salary. And, what sort of real job has she ever held? Writing for a leftist rag like The Daily Beast does not count!
Less than one year after formally joining the Republican Party, and on the record as voting for John Kerry, Meghan McCain has the gall to publicly lecture the same folks whom she voted against in 2004 and quite possibly 2006 and 2008. And, what's even worse: at the same time, she presumes the capacity and credibility to berate and slam conservatives everywhere, regardless of political affiliation, as "extreme." [5] In other words, she's a presstitute, just like her father.
Laura Ingraham was right and proper to call her out as a "plus-sized" valley girl [6] and a "useful idiot" for the leftists [7], because that's exactly what Meghan McCain is: a younger, female version of her pathetic, treacherous RINO father.
[I'm not even going to touch the topic of how the McCain family treated the Palin family during the campaign, though I am certain that there are Freepers who have quite a bit to say on the topic.]
So, to return to the question: I'm not "tired of hating on the McCain family," and I believe that the folks on my ping list, as well as many Freepers, hold similar sentiments to varying degrees. Frankly, the McCain family, for the most part, continues to spit on Republicans and conservatives (note that the two groups are not always equivalent) and appears wholly unrepentant, with respect to the awful campaign they ran in last year's election, all the way down to Sen. McCain's open admission that Obama was a good man. [8] [The exceptions here are Cindy McCain and Bridget McCain, who seem to be the only members of the McCain family with any semblance of class and any legitimate claim to my respect.]
I believe that I, and the majority of Freepers, as well as conservatives not represented here, have good reason to detest John McCain and his daughter Meghan. With "conservative Republicans" like them, who needs Democrats? Those two, along with the rest of their Vichy RINO tag team, including but not limited to Sen. Graham of South Carolina, Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine, Sen. Specter of Pennsylvania, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California, and Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida, will, if they have not already done so, be largely at fault for the destruction of the Republican Party as a mainstream vehicle for the conservative movement.
As a final note, that same Freeper, almost fifteen months ago, publicly claimed that McCain "could handily beat Hillary! if he gets the nomination" [9]. Well, here we are, and I ask that same Freeper, as well as the rest of the RINOs, Party Firsters, GOP shills, and any McCainiacs still left un-zotted on FR, if McCain couldn't even beat a lightweight empty suit novice Marxist, then how exactly did you expect him to beat a real Marxist like Hillary? And, with folks like him and his daughter presuming themselves the leaders of the Republican Party today, how exactly do you expect conservatism within the Party to survive and go on to defeat the Democrats and other leftists this fall, next year, and in 2012?

Notes
# As an aside, I most frequently observe the verb "hate" (and its derivative forms) espoused by leftists, certainly not conservatives who frequent Free Republic. Why some Freepers and self-described conservatives choose to make use of the word is beyond me.
That's because Cinnamon Girl was poking at her in the conversation that sparked this vanity.
LOL!
That's the post I questioned that started this whole thing. How DARE I question the term "bright" when applied to MM! It must be a "hate" thing. /s

Schwarzenegger type republican, you say? ;-)
Only good thing he's done is to introduce us to Sarah Palin. He'd probably take that back if he had the chance.
I used those three examples because they were the three that were headlined at the 2004 RNC convention. Their voices were the ones that the RNC chose to use in prime-time speaking spots. From that day forward, they were coddled and allowed to stomp all over Republican principles. When the early presidential campaign stuff started in early 2007, all you heard about were McCain, Giuliani, and Romney (Rudy McRomney). The RNC very clearly aided and abetted the most liberal of candidates in dominating the political stage for years running up to the 2008 election. Shame on them. And don't forget the efforts of some national Republicans to change the Constitution to allow Schwarzenegger to run for President. That "natural born" language is the only thing that stopped him from being a national candidate.
He [Arnold] is apparently what luny CA wants.
Arnold is and was an actor. He ran as a fiscal conservative. With a lot of platitudes (and not much detail), he was able to use names like Milton Friedman and make people believe that he actually would work toward fixing the states fiscal problems. He claimed he would cut spending, not raise taxes, and "clean house." His cheerleaders championed him as a "smart businessman." It was the ultimate CON job. After Gray Davis's missteps, voters were perfectly positioned to WANT a Conservative -- and they got a Liberal actor campaigning as a fiscal Conservative, instead. It was Arnold's greatest acting role, IMO.
At the 2008 RNC Convention, they handed control over to Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina, two liberal Republicans with little to no political experience. The RNC and McCain GAVE these two imbeciles a political resume. Now Meg is being pushed as California Governor and they are working to get Fiorina to run for the U.S. Senate (all but ignoring an excellent candidate Chuck Devore to whom they don't seem to give the time of day). Our California GOP operation went on record a few years ago saying they wanted a "purple party" in California. With party "leadership" like this, actively working against conservatism, I don't expect to see many conservative "wins" arise from the ballot boxes.
Rush had a good idea. Change the republican primaries so democrats cant vote in them.
I agree with that. Unfortunately, in California, our liberal pubbies are now rallying around a proposal to do the exact opposite and to bring us LA style open primaries. It is scheduled for the ballot in June 2010.
ROFL! No problem. I hope ya bit your tongue on that one! ;-)
The problem is there are no RINO posting/opinion websites for her. Being a RINO is pretty gutless. They have no fixed beliefs, are willing to sell out everything for few crumbs, and they can only run on :”They are worse than me”. The truth is most of the middle ground-independents-RINOs are so devoid of beliefs they forget to vote, and they believe whatever the MSM says. Most republicans here in MD and US-NY are that mushy type and though Colin Powel would have made a great vice-pres in 2000 with Bush.
I do believe in being politically strategic
I actually think there are more paid political hacks and party loyalists here than real RINOs. They suffer from the Colin-Powell like syndrome you described, just like Meghan McCain. They want to be hip and cool and choose candidates not on their positions but on popularity. The party leaders push their latest puppets who will perpetuate the bureaucracy and give them power and perks. They create a firestorm around them. Cheerleaders fire up their desktop (and probably their laptop and blackberry, too), create a few screennames and create a chorus of support for their candidates. The same tired mantras are used (”he’s the only one that can win”) to diminish the unknown candidate and push the celeb-RINO du jour to the highest visible position. You see them swarm on threads in packs, giving each other attaboys and avoid all discussion of resumes, issues, records, etc.
I’d like to compile a list of mantras some day. If you oppose illegal immigration, you’re a “racist” or “protectionist.” If you don’t like CandidateX (name that RINO), you’re a “hater” or a “purist.” Your favored conservative candidate is “too extreme” and “can’t win.” If you don’t acknowledge manmade global warming you are a “denier.” Etc., etc., etc. I’m sure I have missed a bunch.
Don't worry; we can play that game too...and win! LOL.
LOL. I don't think you'd ever rise to the level we saw on Schwarzie threads during the recall where defense of the man even led to such claims as "I'd love to be groped by Arnold." I haven't seen any celebrity worshippers on your ping list -- of course, I could be wrong, lol.
LOL.
Laura's mock was SPOT ON.
I was thinking that same point when you pointed out how RNC picks the RINOs for TV spots. Those ones they picked are the TV stars.
RE “ You see them swarm on threads in packs, giving each other attaboys ‘
We learned how to do this too and many freepers are tired of (RNC) losing while standing for nothing. One nutcase emailed me FYou for pinging my reply to him to others that agreed with me. In fact he posted FYou to me too. I emailed him back with 'LOL'.
RE:” If you oppose illegal immigration, youre a racist or protectionist.
LOL within two weeks I was called a ‘sleeper’, ‘Code Pink’ , ‘Keith Olbermann’, ‘DU-ummy’ for ripping GWB legacy. But I learned, never go on defensive. No matter how much you are insulted, never get tricked into talking about “you”. Democrats on TV know this. Republicans on TV dont.
I share your experiences, LOL.
I was given advice by a wise freeper early on — avoid the “you” word in all debate. It helps in keeping on topic.
Rats.
Meghan’s whining is almost comical. Like a spoiled brat, she whines about being called a name. So Laura called her a plus-size. Big deal. It also happend to be the truth.
I had questions about McCain’s mental health - the outlandish lies, his confused state, needing Lieberman to give him answers, etc.
He wasn't a favorite of mine either, but it's time to let go.
