UPDATE 2:00 PM ET -- The hospital tells TMZ Richardson is sedated and suffering from brain swelling -- but is not brain dead.
UPDATE: 1:37 PM ET -- We're told Richardson's jet was scheduled to take off from Montreal-Trudeau Airport. A rep for the airport said the jet is either still there or has just taken off.
We're told Natasha Richardson has been transported from the hospital in Canada via ambulance. CTV says she boarded a private jet -- we do not know where the jet has gone, but we believe it's New York City.
Richardson was accompanied by a medic team for the flight.
Perhaps they have a doctor or specialist that the family requested?
Next of Kin lol
I’m guessing they’re using a pressurised aircraft.
Do you know any women?
Did you even look at her face? ;-)
Yep. And I can assure you the one closest to me doesn’t know who he is either. Just because we don’t share your interests doesn’t mean we don’t have our own, thank you very much...
Feared dead. I wonder which came first, the brain event (stroke, TIA?) or the fall. Most people who were there said it wasn’t much of a fall.
She was in “Aria”, too.
There was a little sarcasm intended when I posted the article. Of course, there's plenty of reasons that a loving family would want to move a critically injured family member out of Canada - and they all have to do with Canada's Socialized Health Care.
Montreal is not a little city. In fact, it's quite a large city. And, the hospital Ms. Richardson was in was the BEST hospital in Montreal. But, because of the extreme limitations in Canada's HC System and the resulting degradation of services, skills and equipment in Canada hospitals, her family elected to move a critically injured patient with severe head trauma to get better care.
That should tell everyone a little something about the pitfalls of socialized medicine.
It says a lot about the relative quality of care in Canada and the United States that a patient with brain swelling would have a better prognosis if she were taken out of a hospital and flown a thousand miles to get the superior US care. For brain swelling, a high-altitude air flight is not what the doctor ordered.
Keep in mind, of course, that as a celebrity, Natasha Richardson was already getting the very best care the Canadian system had to offer. The poor slob out in Alberta can’t get one-tenth the care she can, and still she has to be sent across the border when the going gets tough.
Well, after we have ObamaCare in this country, where are the Canadians going to go? They’ll have to die at home, just like us.
That said, I have nothing against Natasha Richardson and wish her a speedy recovery. I am glad that the superior United States health care system still exists and can, hopefully, meet her needs.
She’s an actress & Liam Neeson’s wife
You should rent “Rob Roy”. You’ll both love it. It’s easily as good as “Braveheart”. And calm down.
And Neeson is having the biggest hit of his career with Taken, is getting set to do that Lincoln bippic, and is at the peak of his success...and now this happens. Awful.
very very sad- skiing with her children
It does sound as if she had a stroke or aneurysm or something cataclysmic
It doesn’t sound good
Enjoy your life- hug your kids
I read an account that said she was on the beginner slope having a lesson and fell, but seemed to be ok, though the ski patrol advised that she see a Dr. About an hour later at her hotel she started feeling ill and was rushed to a hospital.
Prayer for her and her family. The remake of The Parent Trap was adorable and she was utterly charming in her role as the mother.
She was also in “A Month in the Country”, “The Handmaid’s Tale”, and “Mary Shelley”. Besides being a serious actress in plays like Chekov’s “Three Sisters”, she also sang and danced; she was in the NY version of the musical “Cabaret”.
Generally speaking, I think she’s pretty good-looking, too.
When everyone elkse knows someone except you and the person closest to you, perhaps you should hold back and learn something. Better, buy one of those new fangled computers with search engines and learn something before you make a pest of your self.
Yes, she's okay, but she looks so much like her Mom that's it's distracting to me.
A totally unnecessary fact: Her dad, Tony Richarson (a brilliant director) died of AIDS.
