Report: Bristol Palin and Fiancé Split
TODAY ^ | 03.11.09 | STAFF

The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'

Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.

The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.

"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."

Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."

Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

Sorry...if I gave that impression. It was just my way to post to a large number of people. It was directed to your topic..not you.

But the child WILL get to wonder what it’s like to have a full-time dad.

So which insecurity is more important?

Lo and behold, some single mothers do just that. Just because their concept of the future doesn't mesh with yours doesn't make them wrong or any worse a parent.

Answer my question.

Thanks.
I do my best. It’s not like I wanted their Mom to leave us. None of us had a choice.
I just never stop thinking about them and their needs (My Sons.)

Making sure that they smile and laugh every day.

I sat in that position. Where it was giving up my baby to a great couple or keeping her for poverty.

The choice you present is between maternal love and poverty, and putting the child up for adoption where the infant can have a more traditional family upbringing, and the security that comes with it.

Now, I've seen you keep posting that Bristol should give her child for adoption because she is a teenager.  The most important thing to a child is the love of a mother and that is even more important than the love of a father.  Ideally, there is both a mother and father, and ideally they should be able to financially provide for the child.  Life isn't always ideal, though - that doesn't make it a failure. Poverty is bad, true, but many people grow up in poverty to lead happy and successful lives.  Just the same, having money and resources is no guarantee of happiness or success.

In Bristol's case, she is a young adult and poverty isn't a factor. She loves her child and the child's grandparents love him dearly. The aunts and uncles love him as well.

I see your posts as primarily being concerned with appearances.  The “complete family” picture. The mother, the father, and the child. You don't seem concerned about Bristol's love for her child.  Not one of your posts mentions that, but you are totally concerned with the appearance of a “normal family” and about not being poor because that's best for the child.

Reading your posts I realized that you care nothing about Bristol or her family.  Those attacking Bristol for having her child and keeping him don't give a rat's ass about her or her family.  You seem more concerned about yourself, how this makes you feel, and how this will stain the Republican party. This is about selfishness, because you and people like you can't deal with these kinds of “mistakes” (as you call it) because it embarrasses you.  Who cares about the Palins, right?  But just give the baby away to a COUPLE, a nice couple, and that looks good for conservatives.  It shows that they don't make mistakes and when they do, they get rid of their mistakes. By giving the child up for adoption, no one can criticize Bristol and the Palins, so it's less of a stain on the Republican party.

This is not about Bristol, but about personal selfish concerns.

My sister had her son out of wedlock 26 years ago.

He made our family, that little boy brought a family that did not know how to say “I love you” to family that after he was born never left each others company without saying those words.

My nephew is loved, by both sides of his family.

Without a father, though the father did play a factor after a couple years (when he realized what he was missing, his parents were right there for my boy) my nephew is the best.

After my daughter, Sean rates #2 in my book.

What a great boy and I kinda wonder if he would have fared as well if his parents married and had a terrible marriage.

Then good for you for being involved on a personal level. How do you remain hopeful for them when you portray such a hopeless position here?

I would explain to her that the most unselfish thing she could do for that baby is to give him/her a mom and dad who love each other so much that the love encompasses their family.

The fact that you would be so willing and eager to give your own flesh and blood away, and pressure you own daughter to do so, is beyond creepy and disturbing.

This is the reality:

It hasn’t been easy, that’s for sure, but no one said life would be and we’re doing the best we can and showering that baby with lots of love! He is a happy, healthy, wonderful little boy.

We qualify for lots of “aid” but we don’t accept it. We paid cash for his first check up and he is on medicaid but will be on it for a short amount of time as our hand has been forced and we have to sue the birth father and his parents (our next door neighbors). The father joined the Army and the baby can have tri-care. Other than that, my daughter is getting a job when she turns 16 (April) and anything she gets goes to her son. She has us for support and we will make sure she finishes HS and becomes the RN she wants to be.

Mistake?

Oops, was that your penis?
It wasn’t a mistake, it was socially destructive immorality, and Bristol’s only acknowledgement that she’s done anything wrong is that she wished the conception had occurred later.

If we (and she) can’t all agree that she’s done something wrong, we can’t help her out of her hole.

On this thread the only ass in the hole is you!

Why do I have the feeling you are a phony liberal pretending to be a conservative, to discredit conservatives?  You aren't a conservative, not by a long shot.

You call Bristol and Levy perps and equated fornication with criminality. If you are not a phony, then you are ignorant.  Not every sin is a crime.  If willingly having sex is a crime, then other sins like arrogance, contempt, pettiness, self aggrandizement, self righteousness, and hatred should qualify you for a life sentence!  That will make you the biggest perp on this thread!

Being a conservative has to do with keeping morals and virtue, but it also has to do with goodness of the heart, compassion, decency and the ability to honor life and not destroy it.

I resent the idea that I am not supposed to think about what Sarah Palin herself exposed to the world. It is not as though I was going around looking for “dirt” on Bristol. I turned on my TV in August and was told that my party was choosing her to be the candidate. I guess all I am supposed to do is shut up and vote for her.

What did Sarah EXPOSE to the world? That her daughter was pregnant?  Right, her daughter was pregnant because she didn't choose to become another teen abortion statistic. The majority of teen pregnancies end up in abortions.

It's very simple. You don't have to vote for Sarah. Then again, check out each politician's children and see if they have done something wrong, and then decide on who you will vote for.  Of course, you might not be able to hear or read anything negative when it comes to the Democrats' children because the media keeps their lives private.  The lives of Republican children is fair game, though.  So who knows, you might just end up voting for one of them.

I believe the media will make sure not to embarrass the Democratic party.

even if it would be the best thing for the child if he was raised by a stable, secure family?

I know all about the screenings. My cousin is adopted - my aunt married his father after his divorce (from the adoptive mother). His adoptive mother was nuttier than a fruitcake, to be honest.
