Report: Bristol Palin and Fiancé Split
TODAY ^ | 03.11.09 | STAFF

The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'

Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.

The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.

"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."

Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."

Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

Sure, He picked her because he knew she
guaranteed a loss, and you want her to be the
candidate in the next election.
I liked Sarah Palin, but I am having
serious second thoughts if her supporters
are as unhinged as the people here seem to be.

How does a paper marriage make you better parents? It doesn’t.

Not at all a weak argument, especially considering your own words of giving it a ‘legitimate’ shot.

long-suffering husband?..that one stumped me.

I believe the family gathering aka family portrait was to introduce the family to voters. Happens in every election. You start hiding crazy Uncle Joe or Crazy Aunt Mary out their panhandling and sooner or later you get found out. By the way, no insult to Joe Biden. Plus nice to already have a dog and not just beam one up, because it's the right image.

However, if you are a tax cheat..you try to hide that as long as possible or if there is a lawyer in the family. ;)

Yeah, the media is unfair, and hate republicans
and will never do the right thing.
Sarah Palin knew her daughter was pregnant and
unmarried. Yet she marched her out in front of the
world. I wouldn't do that to my child even if it
meant I lost a shot a something I really wanted. Sorry, I think there are standards and when they get in the way you either live with them, or like the left, you say they don't count anymore.

Actually, I think like a Christian. I try to be charitable and forgiving like Jesus Christ. I don’t hold people in judgment for their mistakes. I help people crawl out their holes, when I can, because I know everyone makes mistakes.

I worry about people that lust after what others have. And I am particularly amazed that the fact that Bristol kept her baby and he will be raised in a wonderful, loving family that adores him....has been missed by the nay-sayers.

On behalf of Bristols baby...let me say...thank you mommy for letting me live and I can’t wait until grandpa teaches me how to ride that snowmobile.

So many here are playing the self righteous role. But I’d be willing to bet if their teenage daughter got pregnant, decided to keep the baby (not abort it), and then, after going through nine months of seeing and feeling that baby develop, the whole ‘put it up for adoption’ cry would be out the window.

Oh my god NO!! Not this, of all the terrible things that could happen right now I’m going to lose it....yeah.
As someone who is hoping Card Check doesn’t pass because I have just enough stupid coworkers who think Unions are super duper forgive me if I don’t give a crap about a girl who does not hold nor will ever hold any public office.

Well, maybe you cannot see the difference
in your grandmother having conceived and given
birth as a married woman but others do.

And the Taliban comment, not too original.
Name calling is what the left does.
A poor excuse for a logical argument.

So you would prefer a woman with no kids, or quite probably, a man? Its as though you’re faulting her for having a family.

That was my reaction too. But I was afraid that if I said it, there would be a rush of people calling me a Romneybot, and turning this into an anti-Mitt thread. LOL.

Go Israel, as in the people who brought
us the rule book?
I think they speak to this issue somewhere
in there.
Check it out.

Sarah Palin knew her daughter was pregnant and unmarried and she marched her out in front of the world blah blah blah

Bristol was pregnant and last time I looked its not contagious like catchin' cooties!! You love a child less for being in this case scenario and hide her in the cellar? I think Bristol would have been more hurt if alienated. And what good parent hides their child out of embarrassment of a disability or because ( clouds turn black and the heavens open )she is pregnant and not married! Family supports family. Shame is nothing more than another pushing the blame game. Most are above that.

the afternoon collecting and
piling up rocks !

Mistake?

Oops, was that your penis?

It wasn’t a mistake, it was socially destructive immorality, and Bristol’s only acknowledgement that she’s done anything wrong is that she wished the conception had occurred later.

If we (and she) can’t all agree that she’s done something wrong, we can’t help her out of her hole.

Like I said, I would have foregone the
opportunity to run for Vice-President
as it was obvious that this would expose
my already vulnerable daughter to intense
scrutiny and predictable future pain.

Apparently, I am too.

And in the meantime, I’ll watch the Daycares in High School and Grandparents who should be coddling kiddies, raising them.

Phew.
