Report: Bristol Palin and Fiancé Split
TODAY ^ | 03.11.09 | STAFF

The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'

Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.

The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.

"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."

Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."

Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

I hope she’s not going anywhere. I’m tired of the whole bunch—from the Greta kitchen interviews with Palin to Bristol blabbing about the uselessness of abstinence education. The Palin clan should take a long hike in the wilds of Alaska and get lost. And, should she run for president, Heaven forbid, I hope her handlers insist that she get a babysitter for her litter. The image of her trailing around the country with her whole clan in tow to what were essentially job interviews didn’t help John McCain or promote the idea that these people were serious about running the country. How many of you would go to a job interview and drag along your obviously pregnant daughter, mentally-challenged son, and long-suffering husband? How far do you think you would get?

Ahh, another Palin hater. We have them in spades on FR. Most of trolls, some are just stupid.

In your opinion then, no one who runs for office should ever bring family along? What do you think the media would have done if she had left them home? And no, she was not doing job interviews, and if you think she hurt McCain's chances you just didn't pay attention. You are probably a mitt lover or a lover of one of the other RINOs who didn't get the nomination because the RINO McCain was picked for us.

McCain was losing very badly before Palin came along, and she didn't volunteer to run for VP, as you and others seem to think, she was picked by McCain because he just knew she would guarantee a loss for him. He never intended to win.

Every candidate takes their families with them, EVERY candidate for President ALWAYS takes their families with them.

Oh for Pete's sake, open a dictionary: Main Entry: per·pe·trate Pronunciation: \ˈpər-pə-ˌtrāt\ Function: transitive verb Inflected Form(s): per·pe·trat·ed; per·pe·trat·ing Etymology: Latin perpetratus, past participle of perpetrare, from per- through + patrare to accomplish, from pater father — more at father Date: 1537 1 : to bring about or carry out (as a crime or deception) : commit 2 : to produce, perform, or execute (something likened to a crime) — per·pe·tra·tion \ˌpər-pə-ˈtrā-shən\ noun Did Bristol and Levi bring about or carry out the sin of fornication? This isn't hard, except to those who object to calling a spade a spade.

Your wonderful Great Grandmother was a
widow.
She behaved in a very different fashion
than do the contemporary women who bear
children out of wedlock.
It is, at the very least, disingenuous not
to see the difference.

Maybe Levi will be on “The Bachelor” next season. ;)

They do seem to reappear "down the road" after their 5 minutes of fame.

What is your point?
Her willingness to make
such a sacrifice in order to better
serve her child is to be admired.

I think this whole thread should be saved and sent to the Taliban. There are several posts in this thread that would lend a great deal of credibility to the Taliban’s practice of stoning women for various infractions against societal norms.

It is certainly refreshing to see so many perfect people. I didn’t realized they even existed. Carry on.....

If you will agree that you, for the purpose of discussing self righteous, holier than thou, sanctimonious hypocrisy, are a perp.

Sarah Palin did not make the choice for the public to invade the privacy of her children. The children of candidates has always been off limits.

No one mentioned the fact that when Joe Biden’s first wife was killed in the car crash, Joe put out the story that the accident was the fault of a drunk driver. He did that to protect his sons from the truth, which was that witnesses to the accident stated that his wife, Neely, seemed to be distracted with something that was going on in the back seat, she appeared to be turned around, disciplining the boys and never saw the truck.

Oh for Pete's sake" (I mimic) I did..and went further, simple one word definitions become so pedestrian..so enter into the sociological shadows aspect of its' use.

In spite of your measured tone and best attempts
some here are plainly interested in distorting
the argument.
No telling why.

The rejection of social norms in toto is called antinomianism, and is a shortcut to chaos.

So what you are rejecting is not “stoning women” (nice strawman, which no one here advocates), but rather enforcing a social norm you, evidently don’t like.

So, getting down to brass tacks, are you against stigmatising single parenthood, pre-marital sex, or both?

Hmmmm, maybe you should have thought before you spoke. It doesn’t matter how her children came into being. It matters that she raised them, by herself and they became wonderful adults.

You see, more goes into being a parent than living in “societies” idea of what is perfect or acceptable. Actually, my great grandmother would have been looked down upon in her day. Not married, four children, musician...etc. etc.

But, don’t let me interfere in your perfect world. Would you like to be an ambassador to the Taliban. There are openings.

Yup. The boy looked like he really did not want to be there at the convention let alone sit and hold hands with her. I haven’t seen where anyone is surprised.

Uh, no.

I’ve done nothing more than speak the morality of 1950 to you all.

If that’s sanctimony, take it up with Dwight Eisenhower.
