The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'
Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.
The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.
"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."
Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."
Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

With all due respect for Bristol, I do think that she is trying to do the best she can for her child, but I think she owes a big thank you to her wonderful mother and family who have been at her side the whole way supporting her. It’s funny how when kids are teenagers, they seem to think their parents are wrong about everything, and that it’s their way or the highway. It isn’t tell they have finally grown up and have their own children that are giving them trouble that they finally begin to realize and appreciate all their parents have done for them. I know if I were Bristol, and Sarah was my mother, I would be thanking God every single day to have such a loving, supportive, and protective mother.
And what is with the assumption that Levi has abandoned the baby. From the way some here are talking about him, you would think he has already taken up with a set of twin strippers. It's not like he has signed a deal to do Rock of Love 4 or something. A grip people - get one.
Should we glorify all conception? Because that’s really what this is about.

Yeah, she should have had Bristol shipped off to Siberia and purged her from all of the family records. Same with Trig. Then she would have presented the image of a morally righteous, fit and pure, all-American family!

I hope she’s not going anywhere. I’m tired of the whole bunch—from the Greta kitchen interviews with Palin to Bristol blabbing about the uselessness of abstinence education. The Palin clan should take a long hike in the wilds of Alaska and get lost. And, should she run for president, Heaven forbid, I hope her handlers insist that she get a babysitter for her litter. The image of her trailing around the country with her whole clan in tow to what were essentially job interviews didn’t help John McCain or promote the idea that these people were serious about running the country.
How many of you would go to a job interview and drag along your obviously pregnant daughter, mentally-challenged son, and long-suffering husband? How far do you think you would get?

A Perp is a perpetrator. A perpetrator is someone who is guilty of a criminal offense. Period. That is not the case here.
I’m not arguing for stoning Bristol Palin, I’m arguing for recognising the fact that she is incapable of modeling the traditionally sanctioned model of parenthood committed both to the child and to the other parent.
So, yes, single mothers are generally worse in all respects than properly vetted adoptive parents and should be socially discouraged. Stoning in the marketplace, no.

seriousness, willing to forgo the most satisfying
role any woman can have so that the child would have
the best chance for happiness.
Maybe Levi will be on “The Bachelor” next season. ;)
