The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'
Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.
The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.
"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."
Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."
Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

Even if one parent is widowed or divorced? Now tell it.
Take a powder, if you’re feeling ill. I’m tired of cloying sentimentality and dudgeon being offered as a substitute for simple fact.
Todd Palin will NOT be Tripp’s father, he will be Tripp’s live-in grandfather, until Bristol decides that mom and dad are cramping her style and she wants a place of her own.
A child needs and has a right to a mother and a father committed to the upbringing of the child and to each other as a model of marital fidelity to lay the child’s foundational understanding of the family.
Now, not all children get these things, usually because of the irresponsibility of at least one of the parents, but where they can be provided, society needs to speak up in favour of the traditional family and the interests of the child.
We are discussing THIS child....and you are advocating THIS child be given up my his loving mother, because of YOUR agenda.
This is the post above yours...
But how many other teen moms will we cheer as they present their offspring for Grandparents to raise?
You hit the nail on the head. You work hard, raise your own kids, and then when you’re in your 40s, 50s or 60s, it’s up to you to THEN raise YOUR OWN KIDS kids? It’s insane. Whatever happened to adults actually being able to do what they want as they approach retirement? This is pure selfishness on the part of Bristol Palin. She’s 17 going on 12.

Hey, keep the insults coming; they really show the clear-eyed reasoning of your position.
And are you saying that an adoptive parent cannot love a child the way a birth parent can? Really?
If she was as “mature” as you claim, she would never have gotten pregnant.
Whatever choice you may have made is your business but you have no right to cast judgment on others as you have just done.
I don't accept your apology or any other that is accompanied by a useless disclaimer.............you said what you said and in my opinion your words do not reflect the conservative tenant that I believe in.
So, you got married and still gave your baby away? You said that you took the “high road” leading everyone to believe that you gave up your baby.
>>Even if one parent is widowed or divorced? Now tell it.<<
How about if you “paraphrase” where I stated that a widowed or divorced parent should give his/her children up for adoption?
We are talking about a teen, with a baby.
I think you’re right
I take no position on Sarah Palin’s role in this, but it IS undeniable that Bristol has damaged Sarah’s viability as a spokesperson for traditional values—particularly on things like abstinence education—Sarah herself has admitted this.
Good post.
>>So, you got married and still gave your baby away?<<
Nope, after the wheels were in motion to find parents, we got married. Sorry if I stated it wrong.
By the high road, I meant that I made the decision even if it did not come to fruition. I think people are assuming a lot.
I call em like I see em...if that’s insulting to you, too bad. I would imagine the Palin family would be insulted by you referring to their daughter as a PERP. Now THAT was some clear-eyed reasoning. < /s >
This may come as a total shock and surprise to you two, but some grandparents actually enjoy having three generations under one roof.
These grandparents would rather be in a totally loving and caring multi-generational environment, than off riding a camel and seeing the pyramids in a filthy country where people hate them.
Children yearn for their idealised parents that they believe they might have had.
Most adoptive children, when they learn the facts of their adoption, love their adoptive parents even more.
She's a legal adult.
WHOA! What rock do you live under?
