The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'
Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.
The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.
"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."
Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."
Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

Thank you.
People don’t get it.
And actually, I married the father of my baby and we are still together. But I had the paperwork and research done. I was giving her a better life.
Sure, married families is the ideal, but when not you make the best of it.
I think I am really not getting a good impression of you.
You are kind of scary...in an eerie sort of way.
Is that your obsession or just a deep need, wanting other people’s kids. Seriously, hopefully I am just misinterpreting your comments.
I wish you wouldn’t try to justify taking away a single parent’s kids...because they are “single”. It is giving me the creeps...
>>What does that have to do with this situation? This baby will not live in poverty. Taxpayers wont pay for this child. <<
Not THIS child.
Yes, indeed, it was too easy to predict.
Thanks, he turns 11 next month and I’m so proud oh him.
Nor is there any guarantee that a child raised by adoptive parents is going to grow up healthier and happier than if he had been raised by his own single mother.
Lately, there have been tragic stories in the news of young adopted children being murdered by their parents.
What automatically makes adoptive parents SAINTS?
Then deal with it on a case by case basis instead of a blanket statement.
I would, but I actually like my shoes!
I am going to be awake all night worrying about this. I know this is really my business and it is up to me to judge these folks./s
Gag
You don’t sound like a very happy person. Nor do you seem to be at peace with your decision.
If the mother cant provide that, give the baby to a family that can.
If you become divorced in two or 5 years or for other reasons you become a single mother, You advocate giving you children away to a 'whole family' never to see them again???
I actually never said that a child should be “taken away”. I said that the most selfless act a mother can do for her child is to give him/her to a family with a mom and dad who want him/her.
It was all a bit too contrived and staged.
You hit the nail on the head. You work hard, raise your own kids, and then when you're in your 40s, 50s or 60s, it's up to you to THEN raise YOUR OWN KIDS kids? It's insane. Whatever happened to adults actually being able to do what they want as they approach retirement? This is pure selfishness on the part of Bristol Palin. She's 17 going on 12.
“And actually, I married the father of my baby and we are still together. But I had the paperwork and research done. I was giving her a better life.”
A better life, or more “stuff” that comes with money? I don’t think any amount of money is worth a parent’s love, but that’s just me. I grew up poor and I wouldn’t have traded my parents for anyone, nor would I have given any of my children away, EVER!
Oh well thanks for the lesson about your writing style. I remember it next time.
