Did you forget New Orleans? The military went house to house to collect guns. The military is designed to follow orders and follow them they will. Some may not, but the majority will. This is the strength of the military. This strength could be used against the citizens.

My thoughts exactly.

PS - I do not think there is a Constitutionla prohibition against using the military to quell civil disturbance. It worked pretty well for them at kent State, after all.

Wasn’t the National Guard from the state used at Kent? National Guard is a different animal and controlled by the states. I believe our Army cannot get involved. This comes from the ancient Romans where the Legions could not enter Rome.

That was the Ohio National Guard sent in there under orders of Jim Rhodes.....unless his booze-lapping wife Helen issued the orders over his name while on a bender, hehehe.

There is a big difference between the active AUSA and the Ohio National Guard. While the uniforms are the same, the command and control is very different (at least in the context of the Viet Nam era.)

I think that there are circumstances where the army would push back a rebellion. Oh yeah, that’s right....its call the Civil War.
