I suspected that, but just wanted to be sure.

My personal feeling about this hypothetical (which may not turn out to be so hypothetical,) is that most American troops understand what's going on in their culture, and are tuned in to who is who in the culture war. Most of them realize who supports them and our Constitution, and who does not.

If they are commanded to fire on patriotic Americans who are resisting the attempted overthrow of our constitutional republic, I think they're smart enough, and loyal enough to their country to support the right side of that fight.
