Question for Admin Moderator

So what's the deal now with excerpts now? I see you're editing articles to one or two sentences even if they were excerpted by the poster to begin with.
I thought 300 words was the excerpting standard.

Here's the rule, in appropriate FR legalese:
Articles from sources governed by the FR Excerpt or Provide Link Only Guidelines must be manually-excerpted to 50% of content, or automatically-excerpted to 300 words or less, or linked only, whichever applies.
If a Mod has to excerpt an article after it has been posted (by clicking a button), the length of the excerpt is determined by the forum software.

I sure wouldn’t want their job.. from the tens of thousands of posts, to the everyone griping about every little thing.. I would bet any inconsistency is more due to the fact that they just can’t keep up.. plus look how impatient some folks are...

If you cut out portions of the excerpt, perhaps you should have inserted “snip” or “....” in the gap.

I had been a lurker for years before I signed up and the Admin sometimes edits it down to just a sentence or two - this has been going on for years, it’s not something new.

I post here at different times of day and seems as if some moderators let anything go while others are about as rigid and intolerant as an Ohio social services official to Joe the Plumber. We prefer that you keep guessing.

I excerpted your New York Post article because you didn’t show that you cut out the middle of the body, and I wanted FReepers to read the article as presented without wondering if you had done any other surgery. Thanks, sounded like you did the poster a favor and made a post more understandable.
