There are a bazillion threads at the forum about upgrading to 3.03 and the loss of bookmarks, etc. It was a real pain. In fact, it wiped out a lot of stuff in Thunderbird. I had a heck of a time finding the backups.
Has me scared to death about upgrading.

I upgraded last night at home and at this computer this AM. No problems on either. I can understand your issues however. This update does address some critical vulnerabilities, it’s probably a good idea to update.

Anymore, whenever I have a program that is running good, I turn off the upgrades. They can create more problems than they solve.
Several months ago I had everything, including XP upgraded. Then I found my pctv would glitch and close, and stuff operated slow.
I started uninstalling one program at a time. Part of the problem was java update, part was Windows XP update and part was AVG update.
I restored my system to last-best configuration (I use clonegenius for that) and have stopped updates. My system is currently running pretty good.
