The name's a bit clever; "kumo" can mean either "spider" or "cloud" in Japanese, both of which are appropriate.

(The article has "sea-spider" as a translation rather than just "spider", but I think that would be more like "umi gumo" (literally "sea spider"); as to the "ceiling" translation given in the article, I am not familiar with any "kumo" word associated with "ceiling" --- the most common word for "ceiling" I believe is "tenjou.")

Given the Japanese connection, they ought to name it fugu. A delicacy, but if it goes the teensiest bit wrong, it will kill you.
