Ann Coulter has always been a valiant fighter in the intellectual battle for conservatism. I even have a couple of her books, but she has gone too far this time. She's irritated me for a while now (didn't buy the last 2 books) and it has finally reached a tipping point:
1. It is one thing to criticize the partisanship and naive policy positions of the Jersey Girls, but it is another thing to start saying disparaging things about their husbands possibly leaving those "harpies".
2. It is one thing to criticize John Edwards for hypocrisy and being an intellectual lightweight, but it is another thing to use a sexual slur against him.
The latest slur against Bobbie Jindal is the final straw, and unfortunately it took her slandering a conservative for me to lose my patience with her. If this was an attempt at making fun of absurdity by being abdsurd (i.e. the liberal slurs against Jindal made by Helen Thomas, Malloy, etc.) then she needs to go on record and explain as such. As I read her column, this was just a slur against him for saying a few nice words about the POTUS. It was not a great speech in terms of delivery or clarity, but was her comment about being in "Slumdog Millionaire" really called for? I've had enough of this from her...she is constantly belligerent with people for no reason (O'Reilly who is not a great conservative, but why she'd want to alienate a center-right person of such power and influence is beyond me). And I'm not sure what she was referring to in her CPAC speech about Afghanistan being a quagmire. She is on the verge of becoming a liability to us now, and undermining her own intellectual brilliance (e.g. the illegitimacy portion of her recent book) with needless bombast. Maybe I'm just over-reacting because I am a Jindal fan...what does everyone else think? I'm frustrated...
Agree.
Not a fan of Ann.
IBTZ. Join date: 01/08/09. If Jindal was worried about being a leader in the party he wouldn’t have kissed butt in his response. He deserved criticism.
Do I always agree with Coulter? No. But you’re not going to get anywhere here.
Sorry, misread the date. Regardless, point still stands.
Actually, his/her join date was 1/8/08
..you are
I’ll have to look at it closer but although I actually like Bobby Jindal quite a bit and still do looking ahead, this really isn’t a slur.
IMHO she was just trying to be chic by referencing the movie’s title along the lines of dumbing down the message to the American people. She thinks it’s a mistake and I would tend to agree with that somewhat.
We gain nothing by trying to appear to be reasonable tinkering around the edges of Obama’s power grab.
That was her point. Not a personal attack on Bobby. I’m sure if he gets the nomination, she’d be behind him 100%. And so would I.
1/9/08! See?
Thanks for the laugh.
It’s after midnight. Go to bed already!
If you don’t like her, why read her Web site?
Not a huge fan of Ann but am a huge fan of using that sexual slur against John Edwards.
Also those Jersey Chicks were annoying, clearly enjoying the millions of dollars they won— bet every single one of them is with a younger man now.
You mean people aren’t supposed to agree with everything a commentator ever says? Who’d a thunk it!
Sometimes she goes too far. Big whoop, so do I. So she made a stupid joke about Jindal. As a white heterosexual male, I hear it day in and day out.
If Jindal needs to be protected from jokes from columnists, he’s over already, in my book.
You lost me at center-right.
I’ve been saying the same things of the husbands and the Jersey Girls well before Ann said it. Looks ok to me.
How is using slurs helpful to our cause of convincing people on the issues?
Hey Genius...read the post...I like a lot of the arguments she makes (illegitimacy, McCarthy) but this attack on one of our own makes no sense.
Although you have to expect this stuff from Coulter, I’m just tired of it all as well. I’m tired of all the talking heads..just tired of them all.
Number two: People like you are exactly why conservatism is in the demoralized state that it's in right now. You want to play nice to people who want to see you destroyed. You want to reach out and support a President who has no business of being a tourist in Washington, let alone the fricking President. Bottom line: Jindal's speech stunk when he should have attacked Obama's policies and gave the base some red meat.
Uh what about all the slurs against George W. Bush? Hillbilly, monkey, etc. They had old ladies saying it-- they had little kids saying it. 8 years of it helped drive down Bush's numbers.
Worked for them. Why not us? Oh ya we can't make fun of gays cuz they're special? Sorry. I don't think you deserve special treatment just because you have anal sex.
