Just wish that the original news item had more details or a link. When they say that the wall inscriptions had been “heavily damaged,” do they mean in the past 130 years, or prior to the original discovery? And damaged by what? Luxor isn’t subject to the same rare but destructive flash floods that you find in the Valley of the Kings.
Well, it’s a great news item to use as a jumping-off point.
Whenever we get too wrapped up in the immediacy of contemporary politics, it does us good to remember the 5000 years of Egyptian history. It seemed to the 18th Dynasty that Egypt had been, and would be, the height of civilization forever and ever.
