As I was showing her pictures (on Google Images), she asked me what they eat. I told her they were mostly herbivores, which means they eat plants.
She shuddered, and said, "Grammy! Look at those teeth! Those are CARNIVORE teeth! They are NOT herbivores, they are partly 'carnivores', which means they are "OMNIVORES"!
I told her she was probably very right. Then, her little body shivered and shuddered on my lap. "Grammy", she whispered to me. "I know what they eat!"
Feeling her intensity, I tightened my arm around her, and said, "What, honey?"
Her little hands clutched my arm, as she rasped out the words..............."They eat little girls!"
Looking at this picture, I can see where that nightmare came from. Poor little lady. I don't blame her. I wish I hadn't showed them to her.
Ugly things, aren’t they?
I wouldn’t want to meet one of those guys .... I think they would eat old ladies too. :^)
Oh, my goodness! Bless her little heart!
And....how does a 4-year old know the difference between carnivore and omnivore! LOL! She’s really a smart little thing!
We used to put a line of wire up away from the yard fence, and electrify it, turning it on when the hogs came around. A few times of that the hogs headed for less painful pastures! As for coyotes, the wire put a serious crimp in their advances, and a .22 ending the burgeoning careers of the more hardy! We had all the neighbors keeping mum on the ‘control operations’ in the interest of protecting their children for the critters! (I imagine if I look around my files, I still have that fence charger schematic somewhere, let me know if you want it.)
