Oh, I see. I’m an engineer so to me M=mega is million, and thousand would be K and MM are delicious little hardshell candies.

I hope the link still helped with your question.

Yes, thank you. Our family is actually a member of the Holocaust Museum.

I am more interested in some tome that might explain the personal experiences of the German Jews who escaped to safety and what they did during the Holocaust process. I do not recall a volume of this type. My wife just suggested I contact Yad Vashem, which of course is another good idea.

I cant think of a singular volume of the German Jew experience off the top of my head. Really the closest would be the Anne Frank diaries though that’s in German occupied Holand. What items I have are things I’ve stumbled over while researching the events that have led up to the holocaust. I’ll sniff around for a good book on the subject and if I come across something I’ll be sure to let you know.

There were about 700,000 Jews in the Greater German Reich. I read a book a couple of years ago about emigration to Palestine. Going from memory, that was less than 100,000. Other that the folks taken to the Polish border and dumped, those who went to other countries were fairly nominal, and generally (along with those who went to Poland) fell back under Nazi control later. So your 250M (Do you mean 250K?) sounds really high.

There is a lot better material out there than the Anne Frank ‘diary’. Look for books and diaries from Jews who survived the war in Poland or Germany.

Of that I’m certain. It was just the only one I could think of.

Here are a couple of books to look for at the library:

Hiding in Plain Sight Betty Lauer

The Nazi Officer's Wife Edith Hahn Beer

Warning - when you start researching for yourself, you'll find that things weren't as simple as you were taught in school.

I’ll put those on my list of reading. They didn’t teach me anything in school about the holocaust at all so what I’ve learned has been through reading myself. None of it is rosey. Thanks for the resources.

I’m trying to remember the name and author of a book I read about the Jews who made it to Palestine in the late 1930s. If I come across it again, I’ll try to remember to post the info.
