Yes we have, not only you Red Legs. I never heard any of the tales of my Mothers Father, Canadian Black Watch, or my Great Uncle, Newfoundndland Regiment, until I got back from the Nam and joined the fraternity, same with my cousins, Evil Marines, it was like passing the bar.

There is something that binds men who put their lives on the line, passing the test.

My aunt has her father’s letters written during WWI. I would hope to inherit them someday, if for no other reason than to transcribe them and post them for others to read. She also has a picture of him shaking hands with HIS grandfather, RM Williams. GG grandfather was wearing his Civil War uniform and grandpa was wearing his WWI army uniform. A great photograph.

I’ve transcribed a couple of that a distant cousin wrote to my (other) gg grandfather letters during the Civil War. The cousin died as a result of wounds at Gettysburg. He was born in Borneo!

The letters were posted on the Internet but the page has been taken down.
