He was probably reminiscing about the good ole days.
his signature move was the sleeper hold. sounds like he used a body slam.
When I was a kid (1950’s) Verne was one of the designated “good guy” wrestlers.
He has combative dementia. Basically, they will medicate him to a vegetative state now.
Nearly 30 years ago I was at the Sheraton West Palm Beach, at the airport to change the combination on the safe.
As I came around a corner the Iron Sheik and Sargent Slaughter were laughing and talking while going in to the bar.
The next night they were the headliners at the old West palm civic ctr. doing battle against each other, their hated rivals.

So in reading more about this story...the guy that died was kicked out of the home not to long ago for violent outbursts...and had attacked and brawled with verne not to long ago.
It’s sound to me like the both men were extremely ill and this was a outcome of having them together.

At the venue I work at, the WWE makes appearances there.Backstage the wrestlers discuss how their matches will go and what moves they will do. They have always been very polite and accessible to the fans.
the guy that died was also a holocaust survivor and retired orchestra member among other things...sad story all around.
The ref was distracted and did not see what happened, so there is no violation!
Or it could’ve been some secret “knucks” he kept in his wrestling shorts...
