There have been several posts on different threads where this topic has been discussed. Some FReepers say our U.S. military would not use armed force against citizens if order to do so; others say they would, going as far as saying that "the military will fight for whoever pays them to."
I thought why not just ask our FReepers who are currently on active duty what they think.
So, active duty military FReepers, here are the questions:
1. Would you obey an order from the current president to disarm U.S. citizens and force them into internment camps?
2. Do you believe that those in your chain of command would carry out such an order?
3. What do you believe is the percentage of personnel in your command that would refuse the order?
4. What do you believe is the percentage of personnel in the entire U.S. miltary that would refuse the order?
I thought that looked weird when I posted it.
Thanks for the correction!
I would think not; further, there are a LOT of people out there who are not veterans who would do the same thing. Oh, and both groups would liberate considerable quantities of interesting toys from those invaders, toys that would, IMHO, be used on their former owners and any that dared invite them in.
It takes one soldier to care for a dead man, three to care for each wounded one.
That assumes that the force with the wounded soldier gave a rat's ass about him. My understanding is that the Chinese in Korea didn't. In that case, the only good invader is a dead invader.
Many will do as ordered. Folks, you are deceiving yourself if you think otherwise. The orders will be phrased in a way to seem ok at first. For instance there is a food riot (or something) going on at such and such place. Disarm and detain, use of force is authorized.
Sorry guys, the military is not all knights on shining armor. They are human, and fallible.
