Its been almost 2 weeks and I just now have been able to get on the computer. My sister lost her daughter and everything she owned. Gina and her 3 other children now live with my parents until she can get back on her feet.
The community has been outstanding with clothes, toys, food and donations. The Red Cross amazed me. I have never seen the Red Cross in action until that day. I am donating to them monthly for what they did. They showed up and handed my sister a debit card with $2,000.00 on it along with support information. I was stunned. Its something you really only see on TV.
I had the unfortunate task of having to ID poor Kaylee in the hospital. She looked like she was sleeping. I wanted to protect my sister, mother, and father from having to do this. I felt I was emotionally strong enough to handle this. I could not be more wrong in my life. I have made an appointment with my priest, perhaps he will be able to give me some direction. I feel for the time being the only way for me to get through all this is to help them get back on their feet. If there is a prayer thread, please include Kaylee Ramos.
The family has set up a donation page for them on Chipin.com yesterday.
