Like all politicians, Mitt Romney is conscious that unless he wins, he has no real power and thus there are issues about which he may be reluctant to speak out about, lest the MSM make an issue of them resulting in loss of votes.
Do I always agree with the his public statements about that issue? NO! However, I very much agree with what he DID regarding that issue as governor. It isn't what a politician says...it's what he does, as we have pointed out ad nauseum since the beginning of his campaign. My last post to you highlights the actions Governor Romney took regarding gay marriage while holding that office, and I applaud his efforts.

Looks like the horse-apple fell close to the fruit-basket.
Just another McWeevil groveling for the rainbow swing vote in 2012.

>>the fruit-basket.
BTW, fruit-basket is a slang term that's synonymous with another word beginning with the letter “P”; and that's what I think John McWeevil behaved as.
When Obama focused on “8 years of [economic] policy” The fruit-basket shoulda hammered Penny Pritzker.

I'll third it!
If Republicans want to win young voters, try telling the truth! Explain why conservatism is the way to live, hands down! Explain what Freedom means, and to everyone, not any specific group. Separating people into voting blocks is divisive and stupid. We all have the same Freedoms and the same desire for it.
AND get them interested in the Constitution, so they know what the heck they are voting for.

Good message! And while they are at it, stop claiming one of our greatest Presidents as one of your own! Change your name, cuz the name implies you are trying to divide, by it's very premise.

Well, this isn’t one of them. He may be as slippery and dishonest and unknowable as you say, but even he is evidently capable of making something very clear if it means enough to him.
Mitt Romney: One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clintons dont ask, dont tell, dont pursue military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nations military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.

"As for military policy and the "dont ask, dont tell" policy, I trust the counsel of those in uniform who have set these policies over a dozen years ago. I agree with President Bushs decision to maintain this policy and I would do the same." Mitt Romney (Kathryn Jean Lopez, "A Primary Factor," National Review Online, 12/14/2006)"

"
No one group controls the Republican party. It is a constant power struggle" Well, it certainly has been a struggle, but the liberal/neo-con wing has been in solid control for the last 20 years, much to the detriment of the party as a whole. (two bushes and a mccain - ugh!)

Neocons have had an influence. But I disagree the Liberals in the party have been controlling it for the past 20 years.
While I'm not a fan of McCain's, I wouldn't describe him as Liberal. He's a far cry from Spector, Collins and Snowe, true liberals all. They may ruin a lot for the party and conservatives, they don't control it. As for the Bushes, they are moderates who more often lean conservative (on moral and war issues), but sometimes lean liberal (on fiscal and immigration issues).
Some people seem to confuse fringe right with conservative.

Yet in the 2007 CNN debate when he wasn’t talking to National Review, he waffled repeatedly as Anderson cooper tried to pin him down, and he even did the old Mitt lie as he described a phony history for himself on the issue.
