LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Once upon a time, the iconic lead singer of Led Zeppelin and the golden girl of bluegrass would never have been mentioned in the same sentence.
But since they won five Grammy awards -- including album of the year for their surprising collaboration, "Raising Sand" -- their names have been inextricably linked: RobertPlantandAlisonKrauss.
If they were 20 years old and ran in Hollywood circles, tabloids might be calling them Robekrauss or Aliplant.
Plant, however, is 60 -- in fantastic shape, and with a full head of the golden ringlets that became his trademark during the 1970s.
At 37, Krauss is elegant and ethereal. And while both are dead serious when talking about their craft, the rest of the time, they're like two silly junior high kids -- he, the charming prankster with a secret crush, and she, the beautiful prom queen who pretends not to be amused.
Clearly, they're both having the time of their lives, and are excited about their current musical journey -- which pushes each out of their respective comfort zones and into new territory. Now, he's a little bit country and she's a little bit rock 'n' roll.

“Um, rather obscure reference but I’ll take your word for it.”
Ha! Sorry! Richie Blackmore was the guitarist for the British group Deep Purple and is about the same age as Plant. Candace Night is, well, a hottie from Long Island around the same age as Kraus. Somehow they got together and figured out that she can actually sing pretty well. They formed a group called Blackmore’s Night that plays what I call Renaissance-rock. The capital “R” is intentional—I mean The Renaissance. If you like folk-rock, I think you’d like BN.
Krauss is a peach. She has a wonderful voice, and is very gracious to her fans.
Thanks! I’ll Ipod them.
Great music.
‘Whatever happened to his first wife, Maureen?’
They divorced in ‘83.
I know they divorced. I’m wondering where she is, what she’s doing, how Plant’s other children are doing. Just curious.
Maybe I need to listen again to songs from their CD. I heard a few of them some months ago and thought they were kind of boring compared to Alison’s previous CD’s.
saw ‘em many years ago. page’s finger IIRC was trashed due to a door closing on it prior to the show but still fantastic.........I think.
I thought they sounded very good together, but neither my husband nor I liked a single song on the CD. Fortunately, I’d check it out of the library, to which it must have been donated by someone else who didn’t like it.
Agreed. I bought the CD and there's one song that I like. My wife likes 3 or 4, but it's not something that will get played on the IPOD in the car unless it's a _REALLY_ long trip.
I just found it slow and plodding. Not saying it was bad, musically their voices were great and it was well produced, but I felt like I was in a funeral parlor listening to it.
We’re big fans of Allison Krauss, and have nothing against Robert Plant, so it was quite a disappointment. I didn’t like the recent CD by Emmylou Harris and Mark Knopfler, either, even though I like both performers (especially her). Just not songs I could enjoy listening to.
We like Allison Krauss too, the collaboration with Robert Plant just doesn’t do it for us. She did “Whiskey Lullaby” with Brad Paisley which is a good one. She can get a bit “pixie sounding” sometimes though but she’s got a beautiful voice and I like most of what she’s done.
I couldn’t tell from your post if you knew they were divorced. A quick google search turns up hits for Maureen, but nothing in-depth about her life right now. I did see a little nugget about Plant dating her sister after the divorce. I should have learned how to play an instrument. :-)
For those that are not familiar with her let me treat you.

“The Village Lanterne” by Blackmore’s Night is always in my rotation...excellent stuff...Blackmore was also the lead guitarist for the band Rainbow (if you like Ronnie James Dio, his vocals are at his peak on Rainbow’s CD “Long Live Rock n’ Roll)....magritte
Agreed. I also like “Ghost of a Rose” and “Fires at Midnight”.
I was almost able to cure my brother of his homosexuality with that one!
