Previously I compiled a list of the Ten Manliest Firearms. I noted that variations on the list were certainly acceptable, but still ran into a bunch of grief from non-men who were unable to read, nor to grasp that real men don't care if other real men disagree with them. Still, there are a LOT of guns out there, so I figured it was time to compile another list. You should own all of these guns before Zero takes office, and then buy more until he wets his pants and blubbers like the wuss he is. And if you don't like this list, compile your own, or wait for the next one.

Sorry you were not able to inherit the S&W 1917. My grandfather’s guns went missing according to the old saying, “while they were carrying him out the front door, his relatives were backing a truck up to the back door”.

I have collected a few 1917’s. I also have a Webley Mk VI and boy are they expensive now, I remember as a kid they sold for less than twenty bucks from Ye Olde Hunter and the ad itself said you could also use it for a boat anchor!

Anyway, hard to argue with the .45 ACP, especially when you’re aiming it at the bad guy.

My cousin showed me his Colt Python in the late 70s, and I knew I had to have one. I have only fired less than 50 rounds in mine. I think they sell around $1600 for a used one. I think they came in blued, nickel, and the one I have, polished stainless.

The Webley revolver was probably an anachronism in the film—it didn’t become general issue until 1887.

I'm not sure, but I thought officers could purchase and carry arms other than general issue. Was the Webley available on the civilian market at the time?

Officers could indeed carry non-standard-issue weapons, and there was the Webley-Green 1879, but logistically it’s hard to see how (although admittedly just possible that) Chard would have had one in January 1879.

It is a 1911 pattern pistol with LaserGrips. I can't tell the make and model.

When I recall the "two thugs" incident now, they had actually succeeded in running me off the road. Me and a friend who was in a cast up to his waist from a skiing accident were coming back from band practice late one night in South Louisiana. This idiot w/ passenger ran a stop sign and caused me to swerve into the freeway median. As they drove by, they showed me the bird. I followed them to a nearby bar and parked behind them when they pulled in.

I had a brand new Z-28 w/ electric windows which were up. Two large guys looking for trouble came out of their truck and quickly walked towards my car. The window rolled down, a big shiny gun poked out of it, and then the sound of the hammer cocking back. It was a profound statement to say the least.

I saw and heard them skid in the gravel to an even quicker stop. Yadda yadda...they promised to be good boys the rest of the evening and nobody went to jail or the morgue.

I carry a Kimber UltraraptorII. I love it. I agree that the takedown tool was a dumb move but the trigger pull makes up for it. I carry 185 grain+ p gold dots in it...Muzzle flash kills them out to about 10 feet:)

Sorry, Michael, but I've owned a M93 Turkish contract Mauser, and a 1960's production Python - and my 1898 Lee-Enfield carbine & 5" Smith M27 beat both of them, hands down.

I owned a Webley .476 revolver for quite some time (had to sell it to pay an unexpected tax bill from Uncle Sam), so I can agree regarding the .455. And I am still looking for a nice Martini.

As for the FAL - I still have the third one I built, and will never sell it. There's a reason they call the FAL "The Free World's Right Arm"...

Definitely not cheap, but for a snubby, almost essential.
