Oh, I’m sure the next Folsom Street Fair will bring in butt-loads of tourists.
But, but, there should be a boom in ‘gay’ marriage group packages. Right? That should draw thousands of regular folks.
The costs of doing anything in San Francisco are considerably higher than anywhere else in the country. The problem is that the city budget for SF is $6.4B for a population of 800K. Compare that to other cities like Oklahoma City (budget $788M, population 1.2M), Dallas, TX (budget $2.4B, population 1.2M), Phoenix, AZ budget $1.0B, population 1.6M), Austin, TX (budget $1.8M, population 743K), Jacksonville, FL (budget $972M, population 800K). Heck, even liberal Boston spends only $2.3B on a population of 600K.
Ugh...spending scarce bucks to tour Sodom just doesn’t appeal to normal folk.
Couldn’t possibly be all that.
Nor could it be the lewd behavior allowed in public...
Or sky high prices...
I could go on.
Visited SF once. It is a beautiful area, but the bums were aggressive and plentiful.
Now the state of California is just as aggressively going after people’s money as the street bums.
Yaaay! The gays and libs will have to move closer to Los Angeles now. Keep them as far away from the Northern California Valley and Sierra Nevada Foothills as possible. Its the only Conservative refuge we have.
Maybe people are tired of seeing dancing homos in the street....
Who wants to pay to see fruits, nuts and flakes?
I don’t guess the fact that their local laws apparently allow men to fellate each other in public has anything to do with regular folks NOT wanting to “vacation” there?
And what exactly is there to see in San Francisco? Some decent museums. But Cleveland has decent museums. The Golden Gate Bridge is nice, but there are a lot of places to see good bridges. And as others have mentioned, the city stinks from the bums. It detracts from the cable cars and hills.
There’s some great natural scenery around San Francisco, but it takes a long time to drive there from the airport, what with the traffic. If one goes to Salt Lake City or Portland, Oregon or any of a dozen other cities, one can be in excellent natural scenery far quicker and far less of a cost.
There’s your problem, San Francisco. If you crack down on the vagrants and lower the hotel and rental car taxes, you would probably do a lot better.
Or openly proclaiming SF as a sanctuary city for criminal illegal alien gangbangers.....

Russoniello said in an interview that “the phenomenon of Hondurans being trucked into the Bay Area, housed in Oakland and sent out to sell crack cocaine” has been going on for years and that dealers claim to be under 18 so they can avoid harsher treatment by federal authorities.
He complained that San Francisco authorities do not verify that the accused are under age and that the dealers and drug traffickers who bring them to this country “know they can game the system by claiming they’re juveniles.”
“The status can’t be confirmed with ICE,” Russoniello said. “There’s virtually no risk and until recently a fully paid ticket home. . . . This was an open loop.”

As someone who lives on the suburbs of SF, I can say I only go in about twice a year, if that. Mostly when distant relatives come into town and I’m playing tourist guide.
The city isn’t safe. Hippies and homeless (aka bums) abound. There is no reason to go into SF IMHO.
