From what I have read here, the most important thing to libertarians is the free availability of drugs.
Nope.
I’ve taken a number of test, and fall on the spectrum of “non-authoritative conservative” -— similar to a small-l libertarian.
I don’t use drugs, never have, presumably never will.
Don’t care for people who do. I think they are idiots who are wasting their lives.
That said, I think it is futile to try to save idiots from themselves. We’ve fought the drug war for 40 years with no measurable effect.
In the process, we’ve built up a huge secret police force and federal powers which Obama, et al, will use to push us around, spent millions of dollars, and funded terrorists and the worst of society with a massive, un-taxed, revenue stream.
If we legalize it, tax the hell out of the product itself, tax the now-above-the-table income from the people at all levels ——_ AND —— eliminate or redirect the massive funds spent on the DEA, police, etc —— we’d balance the budget (or at least would have before Porkulous).
That’s why I care about it. Leglislating this crap is a waste of time, money, and effort.
The only drug prevention tool that works is parents talking to their kids and kids own self-control.
You must not read to well then.
