Thats what newborns do... once they’re a few months old they’ll begin sleeping longer - IF mom doesn’t let them nap too long during the day.

They will wake up every 2 hours when they are that young.

You just have to suck it up and ask for help if you need it.

Friends, family, anyone who will listen... ask them to help if you feel on edge.

I hate to tell you but this is pretty normal. Newborns generally don’t sleep through the night. The good news is that by the time they hit 3-6 months they start sleeping all night.

My seventh is arriving in June.

How do you get a two-week old to sleep through the night? You don't.

The tenth month is the hardest one.

Question first: Are you breast feeding?

I don’t have much experience, just four kids in nine years, LOL, but I have to say that babies that age have teeny little tummies and get hungry more often. There is not a heck of a lot one can do for that age. It’s impossible to train a brand-new baby to sleep through the night unless it’s just in their nature.

She really doesn’t have much of a choice at this age.

She can, if she wants, let the kid cry for a bit to extend the time between feedings. . . There isn’t a single recorded case of a baby crying itself to death.

At that age, however, they need the nourishment. The kid is still recovering from birth!

I used to throw the baby up into the air until his fussing quieted down.

I must note this only works in rooms that have ceiling fans.

You want the baby to Sleep through the night? Get a Night Job. Then the Baby will sleep, well, like a Baby all night long.

Mind you, the Baby will be up during the day when you’re trying to sleep, but...

:)

Just Kidding. Been right where you are. Good Luck to you!!!

I’ve had 2 children and I really can’t think of anything other than to just get up and feed the baby.

They wake more often for feeding at that age.

Mine usually went right back to sleep after they’d emptied their bottles.

Until they got a little older, they would wake up 2-3 times a night for food.

It should pass.

I think new babies are just made that way and actually do need the more frequent feedings for a while.

Thrown out into the cold world, away from the 24/7 drip-it’s bound to be a difficult adjustment!

Babies that young are supposed to wake up every 2-3 hours to eat. Baby swings are nice for colicky babies i’ve noticed lately..

Trust me, you are not the first to experience this

this is normal for the first 2-3 months !!!

A NEWBORN requires lots of feedings and will not go 8 hours between feedings.

I had one like that, and i finally let her cry herself to sleep one night (SIX MONTHS LATER) and she started sleeping through the night from that point on.

If they always get fed every 2 hours they will stay in that pattern- start to space them a little further apart, you will know it is workign when they start taking more of the bottle at once.

This is BASIC parenting skill level 101. If mom cannot handle this then get some professional or family help

THIS IS NORMAL!! What did she expect? the baby to sleep 8 hours a night right from that start???

I think she is in serious need of some friends or family with experince.

GET SOMEONE TO STAY OVERNIGHT once or twice a week to help- just so she can get a full nights sleep. IT WILL HELP A LOT

PM me if I can help- I have been a single dad of 3 little girls for almost their entire lives.

My sympathies to your friend. Unfortunately a newborn isn’t going to sleep through the night - - every 2 hours is about normal. Your friend should ask for some help or get a babysitter so she can take a nap.

In my experience babies start to sleep through the night when you can start them on more ‘solid’ food (such as rice cereal, etc.) instead of just formula or milk. Which usually happens at about the 4 or 6 week mark depending on the baby and the pediatrician.

Unfortunately there is not much more you can do until then.
