The lolcats, the Internet's most famous felines, may be hilarious. But in their yearning, I see nothing less than the tragedy of the human condition.

Some folks over analyze thins far too much.. maybe they can just step back and say, it makes people laugh, so there.. no deep psychological analysis needed.

That is so fake.. there is no blood, scars, screaming or tears anywhere in view on the person holding the cat.

The author got WAY too deep in the whole lolcats analysis.
Way to ruin it for everyone, professor.

LOL
I had no idea this cat thing was so prevalent on the internet that it deserved a Salon article about it. I thought it was just a FR thing. Maybe I need to do more surfing—I go to about four websites, total.

It's an Internet meme. Like the All You Base craze.
Beats trying to keep up with poodle skirts and hula hoops.

It’s pretty interesting to see what does and doesn’t catch on in terms of these little internet jokes and such. I usually find them amusing (until the 300th time).
Those little monster figures made me laugh—they were chasing cats and such.
The FR ZOT! threads are always very amusing the way net-savvy FReepers descend on them with these sorts of things.
