okay i have to say i like the style of this dress. but i am a huge fan of vintage 1950’s clothing.however, the pattern and color suck and she should have worn something that vaguely resembled evening wear.

People call her a fashion plate? She looks trashy all of the time. And what is it with that mini dress? Are you sure that is a female in the first photo? Looks like some guy picked up out of the gutter. What is with the cap? She is the trashiest 1st Lady this country has ever had. 1st lady, Laura Bush, had this beat by a mile. Doesn't she know that she is representing this whole country or does she even care about what she wears?

I’ve always thought of fashion as somewhat like food - “chacon a son gout.” That dress in the photo isn’t to my taste, either. Neither was her inaugural ball gown covered with cotton balls or whatever.

However, I disagree with your statement that we are being “truth-tellers” if we talk about how we dislike her clothes. It’s a matter of taste and opinion, rather than “truth”. The only “truth” is that you and I don’t like the outfits.

Let Vogue put her on the cover, and say what they want. It’s their opinion, used to sell magazines. “Food and Wine” magazine can put a pot of tripe on the cover, doesn’t mean I’ll find it palatable. But “de gustibus non est disputandum” has been a recognized maxim for 2000 years.
