Just wondering if it was still going on. I haven't seen the daily body counts, protests, cost analyses, etc. Just curious.
A huge percentage of this is the pay of the military who would be getting it even if they were still in the states preparing for action. That is simply forgotten by the anti-war left DMB and politicians.
Good news is no news.
The Cost of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Other Global War
on Terror Operations Since 9/11
Updated October 15, 2008
With enactment of the FY2008 Supplemental and FY2009 Bridge Fund(H.R. 2642/P.L. 110-252) on June 30, 2008, Congress has approved a total of about $864 billion for military operations, base security, reconstruction, foreign aid, embassy costs, and veterans health care for the three operations initiated since the 9/11 attacks: Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) Afghanistan and other counter terror operations; Operation Noble Eagle (ONE), providing enhanced security at military bases; and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).
This $864 billion total covers all war-related appropriations from FY2001 through part of FY2009 in supplementals, regular appropriations, and continuing resolutions.

God bless her and all of our brave warriors in this war that I don't hear anything about.
That was just an off the top of my head number. I was trying to make a differnt point. See post #23 for actual costs.
I think you’ll find it under the “W” column, both for “WIN” and for Bush.
I think it’s over. Besides, who cares, we now have a really cool president!
The Iraq war? Well, think about it. The MSM is not going to cover it if things are going well. It would much rather spend time worshipping at the shrine of Hussein. And with Hussein camped in the White House, his media lackeys are sure as hell not going to cover any screw ups or reversals of fortune. Therefore, it does not exist.
I wish someone would breakout the incremental costs of going to war in Iraq as compared to the cost of having a standing military at home (or stationed throughout the world). I would think that at least half would be fixed costs.
I think the good guys won. Victory was declared after the conduct of successful provincial elections.
Now that it’s such a small percentage of our federal expenditures, it’s not longer relevant.
What? What war?
From the document above (page 6) it states that 94% of the funding (94% of $864billion) goes to the DOD to cover incremental war-related costs, that is, costs that are in addition to normal peacetime activities.
... end of mini-rant.
Yep, about the only news I’ve heard about Iraq has been about the successful elections. It’s certainly gotten very quiet.
Before the November election, I told my husband, the only good thing about Obama winning would be how well the Iraq war would suddenly be going once he was in office. Obama’s very presence has created an instant calm in the whole region, lol. The media is so transparent.

I don't know if it was likewise covered in the US news.
Apparently it is still going on. The Detroit News today published several letters from whiners complaining about how the porkulus was being held up by evil Republicans. Several took the opportunity to point out that the money being spent in Iraq would be better spent here—presumably following our surrender.
I just checked my sock drawer.
It's not in there.
