Lol. Is that all? Silly rules.
People can know far too much about themselves.
This data will be used to force people on drugs to ‘control’ their behavior. Pseudo-scientific research will be used to invent phony “violence genes” and other such nonsense. The people identified will be forced onto drugs.
And you thought there were too many school shootings already.
The "solution" as used by the March of Dimes and others (including someone who was a guest on Laura Ingraham or Michael Medved last week, I don't recall which), is to kill them on the basis of this test.
Of course the tests are not ALWAYS right (likihood of having a problem is not the same as having the problem) and the pro-crime crowd says that there should never be a death penalty used because if ONE person is wrongly killed... how about a wrongly killed child?
I’t won’t be just babies. In the very near future, everybody’s gene sequence will by mapped. The impact on humanity (if we survive it) will be on par with the advent of farming IMO.

*GASP!*

But let us not mention the cost, which in the world of zero-sum budgets will only come at the expense of services. The bureaucratic response will be that this test will help us to “allocate precious resources”, which is true on the surface, but the UK and Canada are already seeing health care policies being set by hard-nosed actuaries, where cost justifies stealth vetoes of procedures and medicines.
The extreme example of this was earlier this year when Oregon advised a sick person that they would not provide a needed procedure but would pay for assisted suicide pills.
As to medicines, when the actuaries are put in charge of deciding what can be prescribed and what cannot, then the cost to treat will be the driver rather than what the patient or doctor may prefer. These systems have a list, called a “formulary” that is the list of drugs that can be prescribed. If it does not appear on the list, the patient will never be told about it.
So, there may be a drug that has better efficacy, has less side effects, is better tolerated, etc, but never mind the needs of the patient. If another drug results in a totally lower bill to the government (including the costs of having the patient die), it will be recommended for use. (All this from people who insist that women must have the right to “choose”.)
Of course, these problems go away when people are free to use their own money to buy what they want and not buy what they don't want.
I’m sorry Mr. Jones, but our Gene scan indicates several potential defects in (name the condition). Therefore, we can’t offer you:
1. Employment with this position
2. A marriage certificate
3. Insurance
4. Your current career track
You are thereby regulated to the status of day laborer. Starting salary is $16,000 with no benefits. Have a nice day. All hail the Master Control Program.
Not only *that*, but all babies will be equipped with GPS.
(I'm so glad I won't live to bear an android another child.)

Brave New World is nearly here. I’m an Alpha — how about you?
sigh it took the UK a long time to start publicly talking about dna-recording all subjects at birth
What will this do to Father’s Day in the inner-city?
Oh fabulous, so Adolf., I mean Obama can just abort the babies that will be a burden on society. The wonders of science.
and they can make an onerous tax, like the “fat tax” on the parents who decide to keep the baby. http://www.Electedimbeciles.com
