What's with all the backwards US flags I'm seeing on TV and the movies these days?
On 3 separate episodes of NCIS, one of the cast members was in military BDU's and wearing the US flag on the upper right shoulder. Problem was the flag was made backwards (blue union on upper right instead of left). In one Van Damm movie the flag was draped over a casket upside down AND backwards. This at a military funeral. In one war movie, the flag on the tank was backwards.
This is the epitome of ignorance, apathy, and disrepect as far as I'm comcerned.
I can't expect the poor, dumb, Chinese bastard who made it to know the difference, but I damned well expect the American who ordered it and spec'd it to.
Why aren't the viewers complaining? Why are we putting up with this crap?
Is anyone else noticing this?
Probably that the state flag should be equal.
But if you have any authority to the contrary, feel free to produce it.
Equal on the same staff ?
That would seem rather awkward, but doable. Equal in honor and dignity.
Paratroopers in WWII wore the U S Flag on the right shoulder according to U S CODE.
Also the Australians remember when we flew our flag on the right shoulder.
On his right shoulder he wears his "invasion patch," an embroidered US Flag, "Old Glory."
I don’t think they would’ve thought of it as much as you do. But I’m sure they wouldn’t have much problem with the US flag being ABOVE the others.
We didn’t have any code of flag treatment until 1923.
Where is the old code version that says anything but “wall”?
BTW, apparently nothing but AMENDMENTS have been made to the Code since the ‘40s. Revisions prior. Amendments usually means “add-ons”. So I fear your theory of changing the Code (i.e., erasing something) at least recently is bogus.
Massive collections of multiple flags remind me of a car dealership.
Thanks for the kudos. It is interesting to come back after a couple of days.
