The Fed is buying Treasuries because Ben Bernanke wants to print more money (1.2 trillion dollars, to be exact). There was a money supply chart posted on FR a few days ago and it showed a sharp spike skyward within the last six months. They have increased the money supply by 100% in that timeframe: more than in the last 50 years all told.

!!! Well, since that's the definition of inflation.....here we go. I noticed today that quite a few prices in the general and grocery stores I went to were higher than I remembered. I thought it was just my bad memory - sadly, probably not.
