Palin on Defenders of Wildlife Campaign as Reprehensible and Hypocritical Print Now Printer Friendly

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 09-19

Governor Palin Releases Statement on Defenders of Wildlife Campaign

February 3, 2009, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin released the following statement today in response to attacks by the Defenders of Wildlife:

“It is reprehensible and hypocritical that the Defenders of Wildlife would use Alaska and my administration as a fundraising tool to deceive Americans into parting with their hard-earned money.

“The ad campaign by this extreme fringe group, as Alaskans have witnessed over the last several years, distorts the facts about Alaska’s wildlife management programs. Alaskans depend on wildlife for food and cultural practices which can’t be sustained when predators are allowed to decimate moose and caribou populations. Our predator control programs are scientific and successful at protecting vulnerable wildlife. These audacious fundraising attempts misrepresent what goes on in Alaska, and I encourage people to learn the facts about Alaska’s positive record of managing wildlife for abundance.

“Shame on the Defenders of Wildlife for twisting the truth in an effort to raise funds from innocent and hard-pressed Americans struggling with these rough economic times.”

Ashley likes eating steak. Just read it on Ivillage..if Ashley is so worried about the wolves she should visit a slaughter-house sometime to see where her steak comes from

Sarah is going to be SO primed and ready in 2012. She’s got to sharpen up on the “hostile interview” thing, but she has some very strong things going for her in addition to her staunch conservative principles, she has the personality of Ronald Reagan, genuine, instantly likeable, obviously honest and undeceptive, as opposed to the plastic, reshaped, two-faced politicians manufactured by the left. All the negative hype of 2008 will be water-under-the-bridge in 2012.

Also, since she touts herself as “Miss Kentucky”, why isn’t she doing anything to help those affected by “Icetrina”?

On the other hand, Ashley Judd is wildlife expert, maybe even a biologist.

Actually, this Ashley Judd person (never seen any of her movies and never will) sounds like the perfect stooge for Obama's Dept of the Interior.

How much you wanna bet she doesn't pay all her taxes either?

Good for Sarah for speaking up against Defenders of Wildlife, they’re phonies and Ashley Judd is a leftist airhead.

Thanks for the ping, Girl.

This is why the majority of republicans want the party to be more like Sarah Palin, she has a backbone, and is willing to take the fight directly to the left, including the environmental wackos. Come 2012, she’ll take on 0bama, and nothing, nothing will be out of bounds. She is fearless.

The DOW ad accused her of supporting killing of wolf pups in their dens. If indeed that is the “scientific” way of culling wolves then Palin does have a problem. It’s the equivalent of killing a litter of puppies, in the opinion of many, which is cruelty. My conservative sister is not a supporter of hers because of being inundated with ads from these organizations. Call her naive, but there are many, women especially, that let their emotions govern their reaction to this type of ad.

(Now how many have I insulted with this post!)

Well, if people are gullible enough to believe liberal propaganda, there really isn’t much anyone can do for them.

Go Git ‘Em Sarah. About time somebody pointed out that all of these Animal Rights outfits are nothing but fundraising operations that use their idiotic causes as a way to separate little old ladies from their Social Security checks. They have no intention of ever solving any problems. It is all about the fundraising.

"On the other hand, Ashley Judd is wildlife expert, maybe even a biologist........."

.......and my neighbor. She is not on the same page with the rest of her family though. I ran into her mom at the drugstore sometime in September. She was stocking up on "this and that" to take to Sarah for her bus travel while she was campaigning. (If anybody knows how to survive a bus tour it is Naomi Judd!) Naomi had been asked to endorse Sarah at several appearances.

Naomi and Wynonna had gotten to know Sarah while they were entertaining the troops at the base in Alaska on the 4th of July. They just loved her.

BTW. Ashley Judd is not looking so fresh and lovely in this video. Looks like she had some bad work done. She’s four years younger than Sarah Palin, but you would not guess it to look at them.

Maybe that is the reason she seems to resent Sarah Palin so much.

I’m curious what markets are these ads running. If they’re running in AK, then her approval ratings might go up. If they’re running in the surburbs in OH, then Palin might have a problem. People who grow up in urban and suburban areas can’t relate to the need for hunting and may think of Palin as a white trash hick. Which is probably the aim of the ad.

If Palin had Bush advisers working for her, they would advise her to not address the ads and hope they would go away.

You didn't answer my question. Is the state killing wolf pups in their dens?? If its not true, she has a point. If it is true, all her anger is not going to defuse it.

The libs know the best way of expanding and distorting this if it has a smidgen of truth. Wolves are the same as wild dogs in the minds of the population. Look at the success of movies like "Marley and Me" and Animal Planet's "Puppy Bowl" during the Superbowl. No matter how much culling must be performed, this method is a no win procedure for her.

(BTW, I have a Sarah Palin bumper sticker from Jeff Head on my P/U. So I'm a supporter and admirer.)

You’ve been on FR for 6 months or so and you can’t verify for yourself if Alaska is killing wolf pups as part of their culling efforts?

I lived in Fairbanks for four years (82 to 86).

I have an uncle whom I haven't seen in 40 years but he retired as a colonel from some military base in Montana. They used to go coyote hunting via military helicopters..............sounds cool to me!

You have it. My sister has two cats and she won't leave for more than a day without a house sitter. They control her life in some ways. There are a lot of singles and older folks that rely on pets for companionship and are anti-hunting. These ads are a way to get them to send money even if they are otherwise conservative. Much more effective for a lot of people than ads talking about fighting poverty, for example.
