My in-laws love Panama City Beach, FL, though I’ve never been.

Depends upon what you want. Are you looking for a nice, quiet, pretty beach and plan to stay in a beachfront house, cooking your own dinner, etcetera? More of a resort area with nearby restaurants and attractions? Are you a walker or a driver?

I know NC and SC beaches extremely well, and have my favorites.

We used to go to topsail island , surf city in NC when stationed at Pope AFB next to FT Bragg. All beach , was quiet etc .....been 10 years since I was there .

Pinged a local for ya to maybe update and provide more NC choices on the water.

Stay safe !

Garden City, SC (just south of Myrtle) has become my favorite.

Beautiful beach with access to all the things in Myrtle.

It's been several years since I've been here, but it was a great place then. I actually camped out at the State Park there.

Edisto Beach

I highly recommend the Destin/Seaside area. Whitest beaches in the country, IMO.

I agree, Wrightsville Beach is very nice (much nicer than the Outer Banks), also Kiawah Island in South Carolina is beautiful as well as St. Simon’s Island, Sea Island and Jekyll Island in Georgia are incredible. If you are looking for something a little warmer (NC, SC and GA are not that warm this time of year), Captiva Island in Florida is fantastic.

Fort Walton Beach, FL, the Redneck Riviera. Of course you can't get beer in a paper cup at Robinson's Cruise Through drive up window anymore.

Nags Head area is less crowded ,cleaner, cheaper, and has some commercial, but Ocean City has more things to do, other than beaching. If you do OC, start at 60th street and head north, its cleaner and more family like, unless you want to be with the teeny boppers under 20th street , where the boardwalk is.... Florida is too hot, and too many old people.

Wrightsville is very nice. Very blue water, if you stay down closer to the old part. Not so much out by Shell Island, or whatever they might be calling it these days.

Densly developed and has been for a long time, there once was a huge pavilion over the water called the Lumina, main drag still by the same name, more of a walking place, very close to Wilmington, trolley line once ran from there to Wrightsville.

I like it a lot, but people who are into driving will have a problem finding parking in high season.

I live in Tampa and always vacation at either ST Pete Beach, Marco Island, or Sanibel Island.

Topsail has had a major problem with beach erosion in the past several years. Pity, it’s a nice beach, or was.

Depends upon what you want to do. Children activities v. Adult activities. Sightsee. Just lay on the beach & soak up the sun.

In all seriousness, Chappaquiddick has beautiful uncrowded beaches and as of a few years ago wasn't too pricey. Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are also pretty nice, in their own ways. If you can tolerate the liberals.
