Are we fit for The Kingdom?
Will we be ready for the robes of white
the beams of heavenly light
the Crown and The Prince
the thrown and the city?
And if not, what a pity.
What He gave us is more than anything we
could ever on this earth understand or see
is more than all the oceans in their vastness
or knowledge mountains of books can harness
Do we surrender to the bleak ungratefulness
of our carnal dissatisfaction's hatefulness?
Do we look into that calm sweet Face
and all memory of His infinite blessings erase?
But what if every soul lost by free choices
were able to heaven ascend with voices
raised in rebellion toward The One
who gave with mercy His chosen Son?
Would then not they like devils be
held yet still in hell's misery?
Would not that heavenly light fall to them
unbecoming to their darkness, an intrusive stem?
So then let the godless in starkness hold
to what they love, their wicked mold
And break me Lord of all i see
in this world, and close hold me
For if heaven is not within me now
when I look to you and inside I bow
complete with satisfaction and behold
The One who made us, The Holy Patriarch Of Old
Then still let Pascal's Wager ring coldly true
And let me die, a meaningless, soulless hue.
