This is the day the Lord has made
The sun enthused does shine
Today’s the day to live and grow
And yield a peace divine

The past looks wistfully to this day
And rues its sunset done
The future glances backward wise
And wishes life so young

And you and I wake up this morn
Refreshed from dreams and rest
If wrapped in peaceful thoughts this day
This day will be our best

Looking to some future day
Sails the days by fast
Day by day life comes to us
As daily life moves past

So smile with the smiling sun
And shout with the clouds so high
Cry with the falling rain
And live while the day is nigh

Say a thankful pray just now
That though the past is sweet
And though the future may be bright
Today’s the day to keep

Know today and hold its awe
And savor every grain
Tomorrow’s day may never dawn
So live while days remain
