Letter Sarah Palin Wrote To Alaska's Congressional Delegation
http://www.gov.state.ak.us/index.html ^ | 1-9-09 | Governor Sarah Palin

This ought to clear up any of this nonsense about Sarah Palin being for the stimulus package. All she cares about is the Infrastructure..Hopefully this letter for those who have not read it, will understand why she is in Washington right now.

http://www.gov.state.ak.us/pdf/ESLletter_Jan12-2009.pdf

Dear Members of the Alaska Congressional Delegation: I am writing to communicate some additional thoughts concerning the economic stimulus package now under discussion in Congress. This letter compliments our previous list of four infrastructure projects that would support construction of the Alaska natural gas pipeline. These bid-ready projects strongly reflect the goal of creating new jobs, both in construction and the operation of the pipeline, while also promoting sound national energy policy. I strongly recommend that federal funds to states be allocated pursuant to formulas that are fair and equitable. As you know, formulas already exist in federal law for such programs as highways and bridges, aviation, and Medicaid. In those instances where there are no formulas-for example in the case of renewable energy projects and ports and harbors-formulas and grant programs could be devised and included in the economic stimulus package. The use of formulas would help ensure fairness among the states and would avoid the unhealthy practices and results that often occur in the Congressional earmarking process. In this regard, it is my understanding that President-elect Obama and much of the Congressional Leadership, both Republicans and Democrats, support a formula approach.

For more read the PDF, I don't want to go overboard and post the entire thing, takes up too much space

There’s been a big flurry of concern generated by the AP (Anti-Palin)report. Gov. Palin is the real deal, she’s not selling out. She knows that she would lose a tremendous amount of support if she came out in support of the pork bill with it’s billions for ACORN.

Oh I know the AP is full of crap. Obviously they were not aware of this letter, problem is, the story is spreading and those who do not know about this letter and rely on the TV media and AP will believe what they read

Sorry, I disagree with Sarah here. In fact her whole grasp of economic policy is the only aspect of her that has me worried. Why should tax-payer money pay for a private enterprise? If a gas pipeline would be such a good investment, and would be good for the economy, why aren’t private investors lining up to fund it?

Perhaps they think it will only be a good return on investment if somebody else foots the cost of building the thing. This is not letting the market work, this is intervention in the market. This is politicians picking and choosing winners and losers in the economy, rather than letting buyers and sellers decide through the price system.

Most people simply do not understand the price system, and how interference with the workings of the free market can lead to an oversupply of one thing and an undersupply of another. The building of this pipeline ought to be carried out only by private enterprise, because those involved will be spending their *own* money and therefore make decisions more wisely, based on expected costs and benefits.

Instead, this is “we must have a pipeline” and to heck with the costs.

For the first time I’m reconsidering my enthusiasm for her run in 2012. I wish somebody who was both a strong pro-life advocated *and* strong on economic freedom would run.

Your welcome, I was just sick and tired of the lies being smeared around here like a wildfire. I am in no way Sarah’s spokesperson(I wish I was though, I’d be a better one then the one she has now and give her better advice) but, if she was for something I’d say it, I don’t kiss anyone’s butt, if she is for something that I am against I will speak out, but when lies are being spewed around which are obvious lies then the truth must be revealed before it causes any damage. I am glad Sarah posted this letter, because it shows her TRUE motives and what she wants out of this package

Well, if they allowed drilling in ANWR perhaps they wouldn’t need the money. She wants to drill, it’s the Dems and Environmentalists who are against it.

SARAH 2012 !

I need to get something going on up here in Vermont for 2012.
She’s so down to earth and like many many closet conservatives in Vermont i suggest for once that Vermont put it’s feet back in the water instead of the namby-pamby libtards , red doper diaper babies patty cake games they have been playing for too long.

Nice letter and sets the record straight about Sarah’s views on the overall spending bill.

I figure those that are smearing Palin have their own personal horse in the race and the thought of a purebred Conservative running at breakneck speed, has them feeling corralled. She may not have the same experience (thank God) as the Washington elite crowd, but she's a fast learner and her values are in the right place.

Yeah I hate how the AP lies and people automatically believe it. If she said she was for the package 100 percent then that is a different story, but this letter and other things she has said ON RECORD proves that she is against it and only wants the part that directly affects Alaska. It’s a shame people automatically believe BS instead of doing actual research

"I am glad Sarah posted this letter, because it shows her TRUE motives and what she wants out of this package..."

The stimulus bill is extremely dangerous and every clear-minded conservative should be working against it with all of his/her might, not cherry-picking the parts that would benefit his/her state and/or causes.

Bottom line: is she for passing or killing the stimulus bill currently pending?

She is FOR passing the Infrastructure part, because she is on record saying that. The other part she is against, but I don’t think she can do a damn thing about it. She is just a Governor, she is on record saying that she fears where this country is headed if packages such as these are passed. If you heard her on Glenn Beck during the premiere of his show, she said that she was “scared to death” of where our country was headed, away from capitalism

I guess you won’t support any Republican governor then, because they will all get some money from this bill, whether they want it or not.

Total nonsense. They are just repeating the story from the AP. No way does she support it, she already said she is against it, she would be crazy to say she supports it now, considering how everyone is against it
