Mine freezes up and I have to remove the battery to get it to reboot.

You shouldn't. Press the power button for 10 seconds. The freezing indicates you have a hardware problem.

I like the Mac for non work things, but for work I'd rather have a good Dell.

We have to have Dells for our two Hitachi 3730 and one 3130 sequencers. If we could get Applied Biosystems to write the software for it, we'd really rather run them on Macs like the rest of the lab.

I've tried "force quit" and holding the "Apple Q" and holding down the power button - nothing.

This happens usually when I'm using OpenOffice 3 - primarily the spreadsheet function. Any suggestions?
