Guitarist John Martyn Dies

British singer-songwriter John Martyn, best known for his 1973 album Solid Air, died today, January 29th, at the age of 60. A note on Martyns official Website reads, With heavy heart and an unbearable sense of loss we must announce that John died this morning. No cause of death was provided. In a career than spanned four decades Martyn worked with artists including Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Steve Winwood, the Bands Levon Helm and Pink Floyds David Gilmour. But it was Solid Air that earned him most acclaim..........

So sad to hear this, today. My husband came in from work, today, really down about this. He's seen him 26 times since the 70's. I saw him twice in the UK. He was ONE HELL of a musician. For those not familiar with him:

I admit I’ve never heard of him, but he was outstanding in that YouTube clip! Obviously a very talented guy.

It is too young. I think my husband is really feeling his mortality, right now, having followed him for years.
John was soooooooooo talented. He’s an inspiration to all guitarists. May he rest in peace. ^()^

In a UK documentary he explained his later life and how he had one leg amputated below the knee.
Asked how he would like to be remembered he answered “As a rock leg-end.”
