The gears were probably made in Japan, but I didn’t think to ask. It has something to do with his immune system.
Someone checked a book on the reproductive system out of the library yesterday, and Pat has been eyeing people suspiciously and observing, “You’re a FEMALE!” “Well, yes.” “And Daddy is MALE!” “Yeah, last I checked.” “Hmmmmmmm ....”

Pretty good!
I tried an online translator: Occupo dies per iugulum!
Don't think that has the right meaning. "The day occupies by the jugular?"

It means: Do you speak Gaelic, Pippin? (Lit: Is (exists) Gaelic at you {formal], Pippin?, pn. "Ah-veil' Gaaah'lik ah'kiv, ah F'pin?")
Easy, see? Now you know Gaelic. *\;-)

I suspect that he’ll have figured out where his brother came from, by the time he’s born. As long as he keeps his mouth shut about it in public ...

How old is Pat?
Under 9, right? And you think he has learned the art of tact?

Not many online translators have Gaelic. You could try Irish but it’s a little different.

Pat is 7. And no, he has no tact. But sometimes it doesn’t occur to him to say the most inappropriate thing at the worst time ... just the law of averages functioning.

sion, what do you use to translate to the Gaelic? (Besides yourself, I mean?) Me and my English-Gaelic dictionaries. Have to figure a language with only 80k native speakers isn't going to show up much. Though we have a very active group of learners here in Seattle -- we've even been on Gaelic radio and Gaelic TV in Scotland!

I suspect on some level, Pat realizes the importance of the things he understands, and I suspect also, that he would not knowingly embarrass anyone.
The law of averages may not even apply to him.

Wholly cow! 15 minutes ago it was dark and grim outside, now it looks like winter. Started off with hail, then popcorn snow, now a heavy fast fall of something smaller than popcorn snow.

"The day occupies by the jugular?"
LOL!
I was reading on a site about Scotland and Wales that when the were trying to start up the language for texting I-messaging, the Scottish and Welsh accents got the computers so confused that when any Scottish person would say iPod it wouls come out a "sex" and when a Welsh person said ipod it came out "Pony"
Now both were speaking in English. how on Earth did the computer get sex and pony out of the Scots or Welsh way of saying iPod?
