Ridley Scott to Remake The A-Team
BBC ^

Posted on 01/28/2009 2:03:26 PM PST by nickcarraway

Director Ridley Scott has signed up to produce the big screen remake of 1980s TV show The A-Team, according to industry paper Variety.

The film, due out in 2010, will be updated so that the army veterans will have fought in the Middle East and not in Vietnam, Variety adds.

It says Joe Carnahan will direct and hopes to make a "popcorn movie" that "reflects on the real world".

The cult TV show starred George Peppard as Hannibal and Mr T as BA Baracus.

Dirk Benedict, as Face, and Dwight Schultz, as Murdoch, completed the quartet of mercenaries "accused of a crime they didn't commit".

Carnahan said 20th Century Fox had asked him "to make it as emotional, real and accessible as possible without cheesing it up", Variety added.

Actors including Bruce Willis and Ice Cube have been rumoured to be on board but no names have been confirmed.

Can a “BJ and the Bear” movie be far behind?

Did Ken Starr write the script for that one?!? ;-P

Okay, I’ll give ya Jim Carrey as Murdoch. As for the rest; give me call when you’re serious.

I think Samuel L. Jackson as B.A. has potential. He’s big.

I’ve heard this rumor for years (that they’re going to make a movie of the A-Team)..I’ll believe it if I see it.

Ice Cube for B.A. though.

I had very high hopes for him playing Shaft. His performance ... failed to meet my expectations.

OTOH, Michael Bay's "Transformers" completely kicked a**. So if Ridley Scott is doing this, there is hope.

Murdoch: Jack Black.
ARRRRRRGH! Inconceivable!

Oh come on...think about it....it grows on you.:-)

He's got the crazy eyes. He can play crazy. He also actually played a soldier in "Mars Attacks".

I just think of ice cube as boring. Now Will Smith could bring BA to a whole new level.

I saw him in “Othello.” He can be really good. Or a snooze.

What about the guy who played in “Scorpion King” and “The Mummy”?

*shudder*

The thing about Dwight Shultz is that you always know his characters would really kill you. I’m trying to think who’s like that among younger actors. Heath Ledger might have done, but he’s dead. Robert Downey Jr. is kind of old.

My teenagers would have more suggestions - they see more movies than I do. If I tell them they can watch “A-Team” online, I may never see them again. Maybe I’ll bring it up if they get bored this summer!

I'm laughing seeing your picture and thinking about this comedian's take on Mr. T's sexuality. (You can youtube Eddie Murphy but I won't post it so as not to offend)

I picked up Delirious on DVD recently - they didn't release it for years.

Mr. T, Elvis, Aunt Bunny, Gus, little Eddie....they're all back

“If I tell them they can watch “A-Team” online, I may never see them again.”

It’ll be nice out in the summer. You don’t want the kids sitting around watching “A-Team” at 2 hours at a stretch.

We practice the art of incentivisation in our house; you want a pop tart, eat an apple. Wanna get on the Wii, don’t even think about asking unless the bedroom is clean!

The A-Team is the absolute gold standard for me and mine!!

My kitchen is clean, the horses’ stalls are done,...now if I can teach my 10 year old to change the oil in our van.
