Certainly there are racial issues, such as the dark-skinned Sagittarans being oppressed by the lighter-skinned Capricans The darker skinned African-American community will tell you that they are kept down more than the lighter skinned African-American community (including those with skin the shade of Obama's). They will tell you that they see such discrimination within their community by their "own" people.

With only a few episodes left in the series, BSG is about to disappear from the airwaves. This is why I hate reporters. How is BSG going to disappear from the "airwaves" when it's not available on broadcast TV?

Nope, not remotely relevant at all.”

No, it will not be relevant in the Obama era because it isn't relevant now. It's a show that SF fans have to watch because, frankly, it's what we got and it's what everyone else is watching and talking about, but for no decent reason.
Will it be relevant? In the sense that the nation was led to the promised land and it'll turn out to be a bigger piece of crap that the land that they thought that they were leaving behind? Sure.
Will it be relevant in the "we met the enemy and he is us" sense with the election of the new leader? Check, got that, too.
And, funny how cutting edge a show can be when it can be summed up in the words of a cartoon character from 1970.

Will the show continue to feel relevant with Obama running America? It became irrelevant to me when they made Starbuck a woman.

I’m a lifelong sci-fi fan and own a bunch of 50s stuff. So I like just about any space show and BSG is for the most part one of the best. Heck, it’s only a TV show. Even bad sci-fi is better than 90% of other TV crap. But the idiots’ comments on this dumb chick’s blog are funny as hell. Obama-lovers sound a lot like religious fanatics don’t they?
The only thing that worries me is that when Obama’s insane policies fail these same kool-aid addicts are going to be his mindless army when he does what all fascists do and blame a scapegoat. There seem to be a lot of them. I guess we are fortunate that this time the other side of civil strife is afraid to own and use guns.
