For an operating system that took five years to create, Windows Vistas reputation went down in flames amazingly quickly. Not since Microsoft Bob has anything from the software giant drawn so much contempt and derision. Not every company lives to see the day when its customers beg, plead and sign petitions to bring back the previous version of its flagship product.
One things for sure: it wont take Microsoft five years to produce the next Windows. The company wants to put Vista behind it as soon as possible. In fact, the next version of Windows is almost here already. Its called Windows 7, and its available as a free download, in surprisingly smooth, stable test form, from microsoft.com/springboard (until Saturday).
It looks and works a lot like Vista. In fact, what Microsoft seems to be going for in Windows 7 is Vista, fixed.

Perhaps English isn’t your first language but what the hell are you saying?
Are you saying my ‘It’ refers to FF and not Vista?
I have been running Vista on my laptop for about 18 months. I had to pay for upgraded hardware, and Vista didn’t seem worth it. Nonetheless, it’s fine.
I was most frustrated with the new Office version (7?) that it was packaged with. The Word interface was all jazzy up and it took some time to set things up so that the interface was as intuitively obvious as the earlier Word versions.
Now when I move back and forth between desktop (XP and Office 2002) and laptop (which I use infrequently) with Vista/Office 7, it gets a little annoying. Now I want all my computers to run the same software. ($$$).
Hand it to Bill Gates. He gives us reasons to spend money on his company.
HELP!
Unix needs to learn how to shoot and it isn’t gangsta style.
WIN 2K - still the best Microsoft OS to date.
I’m writing this on a $700 laptop which is pretty cheap I think, and I can run Photoshop and Dreamweaver and listen online and all that stuff on Vista without any problem so...I agree with those that say the anti-Vista hysteria is a bit exaggerated.
“Are you saying my It refers to FF and not Vista?”
Anything posted with Vista is tainted. Your post shows signs of that.
The words were malformed. The letters... squiggly. But that’s normal for an inferior “Vista” post. Most everyone here knows that.
Apparently a few do not.
;)
I love Vista. I use Vista Ultimate 64-bit on a Quad processor Pc with 6GB DDR3 RAM. Unbelievable fast...and stable.
I hate MS.
the nice thing about the internet is that it will quickly find a way to disable the Windows 7 expiration date of August 2009.
Ahhh, humor, gotcha. I see a day when everyone runs Vista; you vill haf no choice.
I got the network to work in VirtualBox just fine.
Did you install the guest additions?

Oh great. Now I will have to go out and spend $200 on a new os to replace Vista. Way to go MS. Think I will just struggle along with Vista on my laptop and stick with XP on my desk top machines.
Vista is actually built for developers. A lot of the IIS stuff is set up correctly, right out of the box, for example.
Yes! I love the XP. But she’s a bit old. I love new technology and was excited about this VISTA, I know, I know. EVERYBODY had a problem.
But I thought if I was smart....wellll you know.
I just though the kinks were worked out by the time I got my VISTA Laptop.
But when she crashed because of the update, I took it off automatic.
I will very gingerly check the updates with online folks before I let that thing do it’s OWN thing, again.
It cost me $115.00, all total to have Vista set right.
And hey.....my padded room has windows! ;-)
That day is surely going to come.
I have a computer guy that I have used before when I had Norton. Which I uninstalled from this VISTA.
He still ran windows 98.
After several attempts to get him on XP, I finally succeeded.
Now he loves XP but hates VISTA. ;-)
Hang on as long as you can. But change does come. Like it or not. As we so well have seen this last election. ;-\
I have Automatic Updates set to Notification mode. I'm informed of updates, but Microsoft can not download or install any updates without my consent.
My wife went through hell on printer drivers for Vista. It seems HP collaborated in the creation of Vista to make sure people had to buy new printers.
Sorry about that. Did your XP go out or was it VISTA?
I took Norton Symantec off both our computers and they both are so much better off than when we were bogged down with all their stuff. And so am I.
I get emotionally attached to these crazy things! ;-)
I hate it when they go blue or black s.o.d.!
Ahhah! Thanks for the link! I haven’t installed guest additions yet. I’ll do that and the other recommendations when I get home from work today.
