What’s that thing on her finger? Is it a precious stone that big?

I pray that the Lord will help us be kind and that we will look hard at ourselves before we judge others.

Please be kind.

We moved to a small town when our children were small. People there were so unkind. We could not afford the big name jeans and shoes that many of the children had. We raised our kids to be kind and never to hurt others because of what they had.

They grew up to be very kind and to love a person for what they are and not for what they have.

You sound like a bunch of fags talking about outfits.

You've been in on their conversations? Fascinating.

“Bless all the old ones who gave us their best.”

I miss them more with each passing day, more than words can say.

Oh my. Oh my oh my.

Was Shelli trying to match her haus frock to the Bamster’s tie?

Are they grapes? Hydrangea? Wisteria? IS IT MADE OF COTTON?!?!?!?!

So many questions...so little time.

I saw the designers of yesterday’s outfits on the Today Show (yes, I watched the Today Show...its a dirty job, but somebody has to). Apparently there were multiple gown choices and Shelli went w/Chenille en Mess. So how bad were the other choices? Grab those sketch pads girls...we can do better!!!

We should take a page from GW's book and be uniters, not dividers? I don't think that works well with the left.

Your experience has no bearing on the Obamas. And I'm truly sorry that you had to endure boorish people.

Yup. Every once in awhile I think how nice it would be to hug my grandparents and tell them how wonderful they were.

(grandpa taught my first born how farmers blow their nose without a hankie. thanks gramps!) (ewwww!) LOL

We will be kind, ezcritter.

We're just discussing fashion and what the First Lady wears.

Lucy that is one of the best ensembles Shelli has worn. Perfect for her stature, figure and position as First Lady.

Why didn’t she have a clone (another version) of this for this morning’s National Cathedral service???

Who is advising her? Today’s dress looks like it should have been tagged for her (and the girls) first Easter Egg Roll on the Lawn.

Do I ever!!!! There are so many rules that aren't anymore. If you wore an evening gown as did Mrs. Obama, then you wore long, white kid gloves. Your shoes were dyed to match your gown. No sparkling jewels for daytime (unless it was a formal occasion). A hat for church and, again, with the kid gloves, and a white lace handkerchief in you purse in case you had to dab your nose (not blow). No flashy, tacky loud colored handkerchiefs — tailored for daytime (maybe a monogram) and lace for evening.

I could go on and on, but I got out of finishing school about the time the world was “finished” with finishing. I've probably forgotten more than anyone remembers.

DOES ANYONE CARE ABOUT USING ASPARAGUS TONGS ANYMORE????!!!!! OR GRAPE SNIPS????!!!! OR THAT YOU SIT TO POUR TEA WITH YOUR GLOVES ON?????!!!!! I thought as much. ;-)

I am sorry that your family had such a rough time. People I(especially teenaged girls) can be cruel...but...

Mrs. Messiah has resources beyond our wildest dreams. Designers will literally be sending her stacks of clothing for her and the girls to be photographed in (free advertising). She has people to ‘prep’ her every day. Hair, make-up, a social secretary, drivers, Secret Seervice, etc. With all that ‘help’ is it right to show up, at the National Cathedral, on a cold winter morning wearing a spring summer frock?

Add me to the list!

I really like the tone of most of the contributors on this thread. I think Michelle Obama is a very attractive, but tall and big-boned woman. She, like I, does not do “girly” very well. I really like the outfit posted above with the camel-colored coat and skirt.

The fabric and “bling” of yesterday’s inaugural outfit were flattering, but would have been prettier incorporated into a formal dress for last night. I didn’t care for the white ball dress—again, too girly for a tall woman like her. Today’s dress looked great for the Easter Egg Roll.

What happened to all the classic attire I saw her in during the campaign?
